Ah.. i style my hair every single day, real easy, i use a picture of Roxas on my mirror to help me out.
It's all about your own control really, and when you use CLAY.. yes CLAYwax not Gel.. "pinch" the part's of your hair what you want styled, don't grab the hair with the wax through your finger's, pinch the hair.

After atleast one minute.. you will have your style..
    This is mine:

lets see... I make my hair... look crazy, and I use... chlorine (optional) a brush (optional) -- those just make it alittle easier but what I really just use is my hand to brush it either, back, to a side, straight up, even more up, or sticking out in everysingle direction.

I use a hair straightener. I use the cheap Conairs too.

What you'll need to do is take a shower. When in the shower, use the proper coniditioner for the desired hair body (Volumized, Straight, they sell all kinds of different conditioners). Now, if you used the volumizing conditioner use a hair dryer to dry it out. If you used the straightening conditioner, comb your hair (To where it's not curly, if it's naturally curly) and then don't mess up the "Straightness". Then, wait for it to naturally dry over time. After your hair dries, get some hairspray, and spray EXTREMELY LIGHTLY into your hair. Comb through your hair. Begin straightening.

Now, that process will keep your hair straight. For certain styles, you'll need your hair cut to conform to that style. The next processes are too chaotic for me to list at the moment, so you have to go from there yourself, really.
