Happiness, happiness means vulnerability, happiness is short lived, if happiness never existed we would never know the difference, if happiness was the only thing to exist it would be normal, and not considered 'happiness'.
Other than I guess hate might be a pretty useless one if you wanted peace.

so, you would rather live without happiness than without grief, self-pity, and envy? and don't say it would make you a better person, as without happiness, we would achieve nothing. happiness is the carrot tied to the end of a stick, and without it, there is no point in chasing down dreams and making them reality.

Without happiness you wouldn't drive yourself to do anything, you'd pratically sit around and do nothing all day because there's nothing worth working for.
Happiness is not holding you back, it makes you work harder. Well it's supposed to.
Anyway, I think the most useless emotion is humor. You can certainly live and be happy without it, but it's nice to have. Humor is my favorite emotion though. ;D

Happiness is the ultimate goal of everything. How useful would all of those "negative" emotions be if there was no desire to do anything about them? It would be like having a car, yet having no use for it.

Ok Ok just for you manic how about this, Im not emo or anything but say i had to get ride of a feeling. It would be to feel afraid or fear would be nice to never be afraid of anything and honestly not be.
