Online scamming and hacking also happens to be more prevalent in recent times than in the past.
My sentiments exactly. I have tried dozens of new games so far this year, most of them generic spinoffs, with no success.

MMORPGs have been described as 'graphical chatrooms' and I can somewhat agree although of course most MMORPGs offer much more than that.

Community ranks highly in my book aswell and I'm experiencing the same problems as you are; its ironic that people just don't seem to want to play together in a multiplayer online game. Some games actually discourage partying by making it so that players can garner more xp soloing and who can blame them for most MMOs have degenerated into nothing but a glorified grindfest..?

My goodness. Friend, you really need to get out of that warphole I speak of. Unless of course, you're having fun. Then go on.

I have to confess, the first game I played and got stuck to was Equinox. A TEXT BASED game. I forgot the website, but it was horribly addictive back in the days. Then I moved onto Runescape. Darn, you grindfest fellas don't know what gaming is.

Oh well, as long as you're having fun I suppose.

well mmo's and mmorpgs have been in a recent slump, but the basic idea of them all is to get to a new lvl for better equips....games need community, but as u said in an earlier comment new mmo players have the mindset that noobs are bad.....u here it more of an insult than saying that the player is new........games also need extra activities like fishing, building or something other than grinding, but when they do put smething like that in its half-azzed and crappy smetimes.

In a few months to a year there should be some better games i hope
mayb scions of fate and exteel etc.....i guess.....

I dont even remember my first mmo in was 1998-2000 and i was looking through google and i found smething that looked cool it said it was an mmorpg and that u needed to sign up,but u had to print the registration if u were under 13 and have it signed by ur parents fax it and wait three days for acct activation,so i didnt do it.On the homepage it said it had DBZ like atks and that there was pvp,but if u unexpectedly killed sme1 u would be sent to this place where u couldnt leave for awhile.

I agree with all of these points. I am hoping the gaming publishers, makers come to a realization and make games not so much hack and slash, but a game that will entrigue and amuze gamers for a longer period of time. I myself remember my 1st MMO, good old Ultima Online, which in fact is still pumping it out to this day.

*sigh* i miss being addicted to D2, all these "select monster, press hotkey 1-5" type games (WoW for one) are painfully boring. D2 on the other hand took skill as well as items and wasnt a total grindfest.
dont quote my sig, ive got too many warnings to edit it, and ive been playing WoW this week trying to work out why people like it (without much success).
