Pretty sad story but some parts of it are kind of unrealistic and others are too cliche'd, so I'm gonna say that this is nothing more than just a story.

Very sad story.
I don't doubt it to be fake, though. I don't expect a 4-year old girl to have enough etiquette as to reply "May I?" when being invited to climb into a treehouse.
