RED 5 Studios taking down WOW?[Discussion]

Well I been reading about this company for a while now. Yes they are developers of SUN for webzen INternational release but they also is on the verge of releasing their very one MMOrpg in the works right now. What made me begin this topic is that I just recently read an article about few days old [Article]. it stated that the company has made about $18.5 million alone with no game to support them. OKay yes webzen is funding the company and helping them out. If anyone don't know what RED 5 Stuidos consist some of the workers for WoW. Another good point to point out in the article is that, Could RED 5 Studios possibly defeat something they created?

I'm still curious as to what is this game being developed by them since they was founded in 2005, So only so far it's been two years on the making of the game.
My question is based of time of development also knowing what the team is made of. Do you think that they cwill be releasing the game soon? and Do you think they will bring down WoW?

Nowadays its all abt taking down WOW....cos its the best now right.If not why bother taking it down.IMHO...The only game Capable of doing that now is warhammer online.http://www.warhammeronline.com/engli...a/screenshots/

i am giving it only a 5% chance due to its silmiarlity to WOW.(u could say WoW copied a lot from it)

Yes I know of warhammer, But how did WoW copy from a game that hasn't been even released yet. Unless of course they was given some leaked info about it. But that's my guess to WOW copied some of it's features etc.
And Yes I woudln't say all is worried about taking down WoW but If anyone who is more willing to would be Red 5. You have to read abit about the members of the staff and get the dirt that went on in Blizzard behind that game. I'm not an Wow fan but I am an MMORPG fan. Yes Wow has some good elements and has that feel that many gamers could get into enjoying. But it doesn't capture me. Well that's just only how I feel about Wow. But coming from an MMORPG player, It's a great game. But again reading the in's and out, which I tend to do about Music industry as well. Blizzard is not angels here. Warhammer might have something of defeating the game but How would they know how to if they wasn't actually working for seen scetches,ideas, gaming engine etc. The guys at red 5 have that firepower to take them down. Another thing to look at is that They created their very own unique gaming engine. Which I know has to do somewhat about the Unreal Engine might even be a tweaked version made with some modifications to call there own. But hey I don't know to much about what they have until 2007.

Red 5 Studios is building their new mmorpg with the Offset engine. Check it out by watching the videos on www.projectoffset.com . It looks like an amazing engine. That's all I know about this new game but I remember reading about the licensing of this engine back when it happened about a year ago.

have you people seriously never heard of warhammer??? ,when blizzard designed the original warcraft game they were sitting with WARHAMMER figures infront of them....this is fact

Herbal, is right there, the original warcraft, before the MMO, the whole idea warcraft was right out of the pages of warhammer. This is way before MMOs were even around. People of course are going to say Warhammer stole all it's ideas from Warcraft. Only because if you ask the average person what Warhammer is they have no clue. But if you ask someone what warcraft is, even if they haven't used a PC before they probably know what you are talking about.

Everyone in my WoW guild sure knows about warhammer, and a good % of them, like myself know the warhammer story line better, and actually can't wait for Warhammer.

I have no idea what Red 5 studios is putting out. But to kill wow it needs a story line that will pull people away from wow. To me Warhammer is the only thing out there that has the power in name to even try to be a WoW killer. But it is sorta silly to call anything a "Killer" these days and ages, games do not get killed by another game, they kill themselves by lacks of updates/content. WoW will go on well after Warhammer or any other hugely popular game. Even if their user count gets cut down to 1/10th they still have enough players with that number to still be making a lot of money.

I think what new games should strive to do, is pull from the ever growing online population with bold new innovative ideas, MMOs will eventually get stale if the only thing they can produce is a harder grind to keep your attention.

But a game being killed off, nah it's very rare, Furcadia is still going after 10 years, I think that alone speaks volumes for the staying power of a MMO even after way better MMOs have come out.

you know i jumped into DAOC trial the other day and honestly it seems to be a very good game, the machanics and gameplay seem very nice, although it is a bit outdated...honestly i wished i wouldeve played it back in the day...anyway it makes me belive even more than warhammer will be a good game

Thats pretty much what everyone is hoping for I think, something up to date with a DAOC type quality it was when it first came out, as long as it has the same level of PvP, I think the people who are expecting it to be the PvP MMO will be happy. Yet there are going to be the people when they see the interface, and the races, classes, ect., are going to call it a Warcarft clone, which is sort of sad, since it is Warhammer, but people who know warhammer will see things the other way around.

yea exactly, i WILL play this but at the same time i know for sure the whole time ill be thinking "man this looks like wow" even though i know the basis of warcraft prettymuch IS warhammer
