the only free versions would be demos lol if you dled the game off the net and didnt buy then you would only have single player or the max of a 16 player LAN if your not in the same room

So i tried teh demo its not that fun the controls are easy on land but air is hard i dont like it i also tried 2142 it was awsome!

tehre are mods for the bf games. if ur on a budget, u could buy 1942, and get desert combat. i heard its like bf2. save 20$
