Is this some kind of post where you brag about your "special" talents that almost everyone with common sense will achieve with just a bit of practice?

    If so, keep going.

(Just a small word of advice, if you are "overgifted" at least learn how to type properly. Thanks.)

The reason it will fit you is because they are such broad topic that they can fit almost any one. It is like horoscopes. Any ways there are a lot of gifted children out there, I was accepted into the gifted school but didn't go because I didn't want to leave my friends.

Drawing stick people clearly - achieved at age 1.5
Writing clear phrases - Age 4
    Writing speeches/short stories - Age 6

Really, those magazines are just written to make people feel good about themselves - "OMFG! I have an "overgifted" child! I'm tho speshal!"

    Speaking of which:
    Completed 7th form - age 16.
Accepted into International Chemical Olympiad training group - age 16.

    And so on.

    So..I'm not a freak?
That's a relief .We are all freaks!I could probably have better grammar but i'm not english, didn't have any classes while i was smaller and i learned my english from video games.
And no,i don't want to expose i'm a "omfg genious i'm gifted".I felt realy confused and i knew people at ONRPG would be as equal as myself. So,i'm glad i read you're comments.I don't feel as bad.

Lol same here.. and it was too far away. >.>

Remember magazines and the media just like to make you feel a special way. Draw stick people? What the heck, anyone can.

I have an IQ of 182, but I put in zero effort in everything I do.. so I suck. xD

No study whatsoever, and I got top of the school.

So either my school sucks, or I am absolutely freakin' awesome.

    I reckon it's the latter.

I believe that it's not the amount of brains you have, but how much effort you put into things. For example, just because you have an IQ of over 200 doesn't mean you're better then others. I believe that it's the amount of dedication you give forth.

You can go against me beliefs, but I think that IQ tests are stupid. Frankly, I don't care how smart someone is. Just because they have better brain power then others doesn't mean that they are better. With all these 'gifted and talented' programs, those who aren't in them might feel that they're stupid. But their not...

the human brain is a big mystery, but I believe anyone could do whatever they want if they put their mind to it. When it comes down to things, your memory, your 'smartness' and everything else is all controlled by your brain. If we could have better control over it then we do nowadays, why, everyone could be geniuses.

The IQ test is only one of many means of quantifying intelligence. Noone expects it to be perfect, nor completely accurate in terms of predicting success. When you're dealing with an entire population, there have to be standardized measures of organization (SATs, IQ tests...) because it's practically impossible to truly put every individual in perfect perspective. The IQ test was originally invented, after all, to differentiate between the "dull" and the "bright" students in the French school system. It does, however, have a bad tendancy to go to a person's head.

That's an admirably humanistic view, but 'smartness' is less controlled by the brain than the brain is controlled by 'smartness'.

Efforts to quantify intelligence have both helped put the capabilities and potential of the human mind in perspective but have also given people opportunities to show off just how very "intelligent" they are. Of course, intelligence is completely relative depending on what you're looking for in a person.

The annoying thing is when people judge their own capabilities. Inherently, we are biased for or against ourselves. As Lothia said, categorizations are frequently broad or ambiguous.

And I've heard of "gifted child", but where the hell does "OVERgifted child" come from? Is there something excessive about being gifted?

Man, if I could still give rep, Simon F. would have so gotten it.

Anyway, Lothia is right. Those attributes are incredibly broad, so they can fit everyone to a certain extent.

Say, what's the title of that magazine? I think I read that before...Anyways, I have a batchmate that is the valedictorian of my school...not some nerd, he's a freaking rocker! I just went to his house one day then I come up to his freaking room, god damn, its full of goth posters! His hair's long, uses weed, smokes, drinks alot, yet TOP 1 of my school...Not only that, he's not freaking studying either!!! Now that, I consider a gifted child.
