    Default the Jowood phenomenon, Gothic

    does anyone own gothic III?
i just borrowed it from a friend, to test how well it would do on my system. now here is the result
round about 20-30 fps on low detail, 7-10 on medium and 1-5 on high

    my system is
    AMD Athlon 64 3800+ 2400Ghz (512kb l2 cache)
    PQI 1024 DDR 400mhz Dual channel (2*512)
    XFX geforce 7900GT 256mb DDR3 470Mhz core / 1380 Mhz memory
    Asrock 939S56-M motherboard
Windows Home Edition SP2 with latest updates

is that supposed to be the intention to have crappy framerates?
i am deeply aware that every game that comes from Jowood is bad, i mean really bad. all their games have a huge load of bugs, severe performance issues, terribly bad engines. but this is just outrageous. No wonder Gothic III once again received a bad review ...

Gothic 3 is a MAJOR CPU hog.

I played the demo version and experienced horrible framerates in town areas.

I was going to get the full game, but now I don't want to get it because of the bugs.

i got it when it first came out. i got 30 Frames most of the time the time on high With No Shadows, just sometime it would drop if there was alot of stuff happing in the one screen, other then that i did like gothic 3, shitload of side quests, nice graphics, good music, good story line but COMBAT = Teh Crap, I like Gothic 2 Combat that was more involving and u acually had to use the keys to swing, which i thought was great. But when gothic 3 was out, the BUGS BUGS BUGS were horrible, it was such a incomplete Buggy game when it first hit the shelfs. , and i gave up on it awhile bak. im not sure how many patches or watever are out now to fix it up. other then that it was a great/fun game.

i cannot agree more on the buggy part. the strongest enemies in the games are boars ... stupid, simple boars. they have an insane attack speed and stun you with every hit. other than that, major performance issues, very, very incomplete game. they just rushed it even more just to make a launch ...this is only a small reccomendation: do NOT buy gothic III, it is above all, not worth your money. i was supposed to be the 'oblivion' killer, we all knew Jowood is never going to succeed in that ... let alone with the gothic series. why do they keep trying?

It was trying to compete with oblivion's combat system which was deep, realistic, and fun by doubling the realism turning it into repetitive battles of paralysis. Most of the time you and the opponent stand there getting shocked.
