    Question Free MMO's and Vista

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum; I couldn't decide between MMORPG and General. Anywho, anyone here with Vista installed experiencing any problems with certain games? My dad bought home premium edition last night, and I want to install it on my machine, but I just want to know what other people have experienced, in terms of game performance, and if there are any certain MMO's that have issues with it. (either minor, major, or the game won't run)

I've found out that World Of Warcraft, Guild Wars, and Steam all run flawlessly on it through other sites; but I'm still unsure of Neverwinter Nights 2 and Battlefield 2142. That, and the free MMORPGs found on this site.

Just curious, and if I find out enough games that I play work, I'm putting it on tonight.

Vista seems appealing but I don't think I wanna pay $170, I'll stick to XP, it gets the work done.

that's great, thanks for your opinion, but I'm don't think it answers the OP's question...

anyways, Im not sure if this is what you are looking for, but it looks like a list of games compatible with vista.

and here is a good thread posted at the Microsoft support forum about some of the games you listed.

You should wait a while man, Wait for Microsoft to get a lot of bugs sorted out and compatibility to improve. If anything install it to another Partition on your HD so you can mess with it. and switch back to XP in case you run into a problem. thats what i do lol.

Also expect all your games to run slower than normal since Vista eats more ram and Cpu clocks. if you have 2 gigs of ram or more and a 4.00GHZ cpu or Dual core you probably wont notice any slow down.

oh id like to note that you better hope your dad didn't get the cheap kind of Vista that only allows 1 install on 1 PC.

Ok, this is getting annoying, this is official, the full version costs $455. I'm not getting a picture either.

Hmm... well, I did an XP-to-Vista upgrade, it only added 2 games in the game explorer; Guild Wars and Guild Wars Factions... which I find weird that it didn't detect Nightfall. And missing from the list is NWN2, WoW, Battlefield 2142, and Steam. And there's no way to add any new games that I can find.

But, I might be able to fix that by actually doing a fresh install instead of just upgrading.

Oh, and I got a 5.0 on their system performance rating thing.

EDIT: actual game test; Guild Wars, WoW, Steam, and Battlefield 2142 ran just as good as before, the only game that lags a little more then before is NWN2, but that game liked to lag for no reason a lot anyways. Once I reformat my comp and put a fresh install of Vista on I'll install some more games to test.

Vista was just released, if your upgraded now don't complain about issues because like every microsoft OS its full of them. In some ways its faster in some its hella worse, mostly worse for gaming. Only THE most recent games have the best results on Vista

I'm sticking to XP then, don't need to go better, just the motherboard etc etc.

    Yeah. Nice isn't it?
Oh well, I don't really mind, just because most people don't have/want it.
