Im pretty sure other ppl wll attempt to do the same, so its best if they dont fire him. This stuff happend with runescape before when one of their staff was using hacking tools. After he was fired, he decided to get revenge on his fellow workers and his boss by creating hacks and giving them out all over websites.
In short, by not firing him they prevented a highly entertaining game from being screwed up by hacks in the near future.
