    Default Who has tried LORTO?

I finally decided to try LORTO after receiving 2 previous beta keys. And I must say, it is really worth it. I am definitely going to buy this game if it is as good as i have already played. The single player is great and you go through the story. They will be adding content like WoW or EQ as far as I know (frequent updates). So this game will definitely be worth trying out. I might have to switch to this game instead of GE when it comes to the US. I might pre-order this very soon.

    I have.

I'm still in beta and I dont know if I'm going to pre-order it.

Since I'm not 16 yet so I have no job, and my computer isnt that great so it lags a bit.

But it IS very fun. :]

I'm enjoying this game a lot. however, I get lots of lag and it can be unbearable at times for me. My computer is very poor for this game.

When you get to around level 15, Lothia, you will start getting loads of quests opened to you so really get to pick and choose which to do. You can wander around exploring the land and come across people offering quests

Wow so its like Everquest in the fact of huge amount of quests (Which is whats so beautiful about EQI and EQII).
The attack speed is slow by no amount, I was able to hit about as fast as I do in any other game and the magic my character was doing was 2x faster then your average magic.
The lag is sorta bad in some places, just gotta update computer. I am getting a GF7600 and 2gig Ram next week though so I will be fine lol.

PvP is seperate from the rest fo the game cause they do not want it to interfere with the lore of Tolkein's books.

For your character to reach PvP, they need to be at least lvl 50 and talk to the Player Monster node in Beggars Alley.

To jump into PvP as a monster/minion of the "darkside", just reach lvl 10 and find the Monster Player node in beggars alley.

The rewards in PvPM( player versus player monster) are all related to your playing characters. You can gain special traits from PvPM.

The combat speed is equal to most games out there, it all depends on your weapon speed. Mostly 2handed are slower than the rest, and daggers are the fastest. Swords have an average weapon speed. The game is not slow, its faster paced than certain games.

Yes, you weill be involved in the story, but you will not be involved with anything that interferes with the storyline of the books.

Overall the game is fun. If your looking for something that rotates around community and quests, then this is the game for you. If your looking for game with PvP in mind, then this isnt for you.

    Yeah, and so?
The world of Middle Earth is not that huge, besides, your not looking at a complete map. Its only part of the Middle Earth world.

I didnt know Tolkein's books were about the time it took to get from point A to point B. What book have you read?

The game is about the lore of Middle Earth, the background stories while the trials of the "Fellowship" were unraveling. I dont see how you think this game is a joke to Tolkein's lore. Oh wait, your talking about the lore in that fictitious book about traveling the world in so little time. What is that book called? Hop, Skip, and A Jump Away?

Try to explain your reasoning a bit more clearer next time. For the moment, you sound like the village git.

there wont be any real open pvp which is really careface and turned me off completely, other than that the game-mechanism is pretty much a WoW-copy but it's really nice graphics, but I don't like WoW and I don't like this game either, WoW is slightly better though

*sigh* Didn't you use to play WoW? Seen a post where you defended WoW or something.. Could be wrong.
And no, WoW is not "slightly better" as WoW requires epixz0rs to be good in PvE and PvP while LotRO doesn't require über items to be good. It's more of a skill/tactics game like GuildWars because it's rather slow to kill someone in PvMP.

And as Cyber7chink said: Open PvP would ruin Tolkien's lore. Elves ****** dwarves, Hobbits ****** Humans, Orcs ****** Uruk'hai?0.0

Hey, I think the NDA is lifted now so I can talk, it it isn't whatever. I've played since the first phase of BETA.

The game is fun at the beginning, of course all seem that way at first. The story seems captivating and the instances make you feel like you're actually following a story.

However, I'm a LOTR fan and many of us feel a little betrayed. I mean how can you have LOTR without being able to play the evil side. No PvP? That's kind of lame, man to man duels were a part of the whole story. Sure there's monster raids but I feel that the game is a little dumb without PvP.

You'll probably play it a few months and then the whole "OMG LOTR IS AWESOME" atmosphere will die out because you'll start to see the game is no different from any other MMO out there.

    Just my 5 cents

I played it, they pretty much copied the whole WoW interface. xP I like the quests bonuses tho, that was nice. I never figured out how to make boiled leather or whatever.

    Yeah, and so?

Just gotta say Cyber do you really think he thinks tolkiens books are about point A to point B? That is a stupid thing to say becuase its obvious that he doesn't think that, and it seems like you are trying to get a point across by making him look stupid.. Try saying something that actually is more clearer to his point of view...

Also i think what he meant is that in LOTR middle earth is quite large with lots of details along the way.. Lots of long fields with enchanted forests and cave pathways.. This is middle earth it is huge in respect.. to walk 2 hours from one side to the other does seem rather small thinking realistically..

But then this is a game and he only looked at a part of the world..

And as I said, all the world is not there. As they said in the beta testing, this is only 1/3 of the world they have rights to.

For you, I explained what he should have done. I havent made him look more like an idiot than what he did.

LOTRO is just another WoW clone with prettier graphics set in Tolkien's world. However, thats not necessairly a bad thing considering WoW doesn't do much wrong in terms of the gameplay department. But pretty much those who dont like WoW wont like this game either.

Maybe if you people would stop comparing this game to that damn WoW bullshit - Then we can finally shed some light on this game and take it for what it is.

    Damn.
