Default LEGO MMOG confirmed (Yes, the building blocks, LEGO)

    From: Gamasutra

NetDevil Confirms Development Of LEGO MMO

Independent game developer NetDevil has announced a partnership with major toy company The LEGO Group to develop a massively multiplayer online game based on the popular building blocks.

The announcement confirms statements made to Gamasutra in a recent interview with NetDevil president Scott Brown and creative director Ryan Seabury, who at that time commented that the Colorado based developer had begun working on a new, as yet unannounced MMOG for a “major toy company.”

While few details have been released regarding both the deal and the game, a brief statement released today highlights the enthusiasm that both companies seem to have for the project, which Brown described in December to Gamasutra as "a natural fit for a MMO.”

"The LEGO brand represents construction, creativity and problem solving -- values that compliment the MMOG market,” commented Lisbeth Valther Pallesen, executive vice president, of the Community, Education and Direct Division at The LEGO Group. “By merging the online world of social interaction with physical play, the LEGO brand is providing new experiences for children, as well as fans. NetDevil's technological capability, openness to work with a large community, and their enthusiasm for the LEGO brand made them a natural partner."

NetDevil's Scott Brown added: “Playing with LEGO bricks and developing online worlds are both creative activities. To bring them together is deeply professionally satisfying and we look forward to working with the LEGO team."

There's a Bionicle cartoon series eh ? Always wanted to watch it, but here, all they do is show ads for their toys on TV. They will probably get more sales by showing the cartoon here >.<

You can watch the series of movies on the internet. Just google it.

I enjoyed the Bionicles toy sets, as well. My son and I have had a lot of fun with the 16 some odd sets he has. We successfully made a 3 foot dragon once. With bionicles, you can do some amazing things.

Is Lego MindWerks still in production?

I'm kindof betting it's gunna turn out a lot like Blockland (Might be where these developers actually got the idea to do this from), unless.. they actually ARE making a full-world MMORPG out of it.

Blockland used to be a free room based lego themed game and was a lot of fun and very open-ended. It recently became b2p though and changed it's theme a little bit. Heres a couple screenshots from a while ago in the older version. =3

(This was a ***** to make)

(This took forever, one of many racetracks. =3)

    Hurhur, fun times.

Blockland is awesome. I'd just keep playing blockland over a lego mmo.

Blockland was pretty good for a while, was quite laggy at times however.

Should be interesting, I'm not getting it, but still, might be pretty interesting.

    There IS Blockland.That owned.
I always made my house nice and cool.Once,i went into a room with 8 players.I made my awsome house and everything and then we had fun, like organized events on the "town sware",in which we had to say the F word once inside.
After that we decided to have team bunker wars.LOL!We made forts near our houses.I think my side had a rocket launcher !
Fun times....Wonder if i can play it again. It was a pain i had to build my stuff from scratch, tough as it was server based.

Blockland was fun, nothing beats making a whole city REALLY REALLY high up in the sky, with only one way to get up: Climb a narrow "tower"

This will be cool, if they do it right >_> .

I remember Blockland, I used to play with that mod that made it so much better, Return to Blockland, through LAN. Made all sorts of things. I also did castle warss and things like that, where you build some kind of fort, and then after a certain amount of time, you could attack others and try to defeat them. Good times, good times.

Wow, that blockland game actually looks pretty nice. Hopefully this new "lego mmog" will be better though. xD
