Default Why aren't their headphones that use wireless network tech?

I was thinking about this today, most wireless headphones on the market do not use digital transmission for audio, they use old RF method (radio method). It would make much more sense to send packets of an audio file, store it in memory on the headphone chip somewhere and play it locally on the headphone.

Especially when it comes to computer headphones, headphones with an wireless network card and flash memory built into the headset would be a godsend. Finally "true digital wireless" without radio interference.

What is so hard about this that people haven't done it?

Because it would cost so much and have very little use.

Not to mention, there is still a large percentage of computer owners that don't even understand what a network does.

(for instance) My theater just got brand new HD DLP projectors, and the projections manager is very computer illiterate. It's going to be a pain explaining how to load the 1/4 terabyte movie and trailers onto the system, install the one week encryption key, and how to properly build up the movies playlist. But boy, the HD is worth it (I'm still drooling over the fact that I was the first one to use it at my theater today)

to put it simply, most buyers wouldn't know how to properly set up the headphones wireless networking (fewer would know that they had to set it up). Not to mention, but you would also have to have a program set up to properly pass the stream (cause that is what it's called) to the headset, clogging up cpu and network resources.

Gots to go, I needs me sleep to be better awake for more HD DLP fun tommarow.

That would be totally impractical. Why not just use bluetooth Headphones? I think I've seen some bluetooth ear pieces too.

Thats 100% right, why not just use bluetooth? Its much more cost effective, available currently on the market, and a snazzy new technology that is taking over anyway

Inpractical, not a lot of people would really give a damm.
For people who like wireless headphones theres the RF and bluetooth, but audiophiles who would pay a ton of dough for the crispest sound, wouldn't even think of wireless. They would never be able to match the sound quality of the high end wired headphones...
