I have two years of experience here.
I can assure you that the game CAN be very fun! Find a class that you enjoy. If you want to grind like nuts, this game is perfect for you. If you want to relax, this game is pretty decent for that too. Make an Acrobat or a Mage.
Easy Acrobat leveling = Maxed Junk Arrow + Refreshers.
Easy Mage leveling for the first few levels = Maxed Mental Strike
Veterans might say that's bad advice for mages. Well... I got to level 30 with Mental Strike, and I can get the elemental spells now. You get a reskill at job change so you can use that after you become an elementor. =)
I don't think anyone will argue against Maxed Junk Arrow unless you're becoming a yoyo acrobat.
Don't know what I'm talking about? That's okay. My main point was something else. Mages get Blinkpool and Acrobats get Dark Illusion. Blinkpool lets you TELEPORT! Yeah, you an teleport over small rivers, lakes, etc... It's quite fun! Dark Illusion allows you to go invisible for a few seconds. Acrobats also get a skill called Fast Walker. This lets them move super fast for a few seconds. You can use Fast Walker, Dark Illusion, and run super fast yet remain unseen. (You can then use an emoticon and be like a ghost, or you can get on your board and fly away invisible!)
My point is... There is tons of fun to be had with this game. They fixed the skill system 5 days ago. Now all classes can max all important skills and then some.
Example:
Level 1-20 = 2 skill points per level
Level 21-40 = 3 skill points per level
Level 41-60 = 4 skill points per level
And so on....
Each character now gets bonus points on both job changes depending on the class. The bonus is ALWAYS higher than the initial version 7 amount of 30 skill points. The minimum is 40 for mercenaries. Mages get like 90. Each first class skill requires 2 points per level, and the maximum level of almost all first class skills is 20. The second job change is FIXED for elementors (mage second class 1). They now get 300 skill points at job change. Second class skills take 3 points to level and they have a maximum level of 10)
In other words... Go ahead and play Flyff. It's fine. People overreacted to the patch. I stopped playing for a bit, since I love being full support (ruined by version 7), but the skill system (the main problem with update 7) is fixed now. This is a recent update, so alpha is a few days behind.![]()
