Default Typing in Japanese in FEZ

If I might start out with an apology...
I realize that this may not be the correct forum for this; however, I believe that the users here will be the most adept at helping me. I don't mind if you move it to where you think it is appropriate, just... don't punish me too harshly? =X

Anyways, I'm playing Fantasy Earth Zero ((just about non-stop. I've been playing from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m.)) and I understand most of what's said. However, I can't really say much back, since it would be in romaji, or English letters... and I'd feel really dumb.
I have the Microsoft Japanese IME. However, the default output for this is Direct Output, meaning my romaji stays romaji and does not convert. I'm trying to get used to a Kata keyboard... but it's really confusing! I am hoping that there is some in-game romaji converter, or that there is a hot-key to switch conversion to Hiragana in IME that I have missed. I have tried pressing Ctrl+Space, the default switch-to-hira mode, but no luck, at least in game. In Word or Notepad or Firefox, it works fine. Even if I remap my function buttons to Switch to Hiragana, it still doesn't work in-game. If I minimize the FEZ window, I also am unable to find the Language bar.

Thanks, and sorry for bothering you! ^^

    ....
see if this helps you in anyway >",,<
didnt quite follow ur question xD [there's something about me and long questions] . . . .
if you put ur question in a simplier , shorter way . . . i might understand xD

    anyways
    HOSHINO [SPACE→] 星の [F7→] ホシノ
go take a careful look in the function keys "within the *** IME itself" . . . there are alot of convertions

    In FEZ . . .
not sure if its changed or what , but when i was playing we can't use Japanese Unicodes to play it . . .
Even my friend's Newest , Brand New , Just Setted computer couldnt do it . . .
we had to use Korean Unicode to play , and weirdly all the japanese words appear to be fine >",,<
but then in korean unicode , you cant type japanese in game . . .

however , we were able to type it with applocale . . .
though it was banned by GameGuard [not sure if it different now or not]

if applocale is still causing gameguard error . . .
the only way out is to open a notepad or watever , then type and copy in 'n out the game

but . . . there are a few places where you cant copy and paste
1.the nick name in the character creation page
2.the guild name ..when you try to create new guild

    HOWEVER . . . this is what i know when i was playing . . . about . . . almost a month past
