Thumbs down Microsoft: Wii is for children

Oh, sweet mud-slinging, how we love you. It would be impossible to count how many times company reps poked fun at GameCube, just as it would be a difficult undertaking to calculate how many times former Nintendo president Hiroshi Yamauchi spoke ill of his hardware competitors. Nowadays, though, publishers rarely speak badly of Nintendo or Wii as both are overwhelming success stories.

But Microsoft's group product manager for Xbox and the Live platform, John Rodman, recently took a stab at it. According to a report by Daily Tech, Rodman insinuated that gamers would outgrow Nintendo's new console just as soon as their voices started to change.

"We don't feel like the Wii customer and the Xbox customer are the same thing," Rodman reportedly said. "We think that as soon as the Wii customer turns 14, they want something else."

Whoops. We must've missed that memo. And so did our parents.

    People never cease to stereotype.

    I liked the Wii, but I guess I'll get a 360 since I'm 15...

I'll probably end up getting both anyway, but that's one of the dumbest things I've heard from Microsoft this war.

Hey! I'm 14... but I have to say that I am tempted to buy a XBox 360... BUT ONLY BECAUSE THE PS3 HAS DISAPPOINTED ME A LOT SO FAR! Plus, I'll be able to play Assassin's Creed and DMC 4 on it so it's all good! And hell, throw in Halo 3 just because and it'll be yayerskaterific! Oh right, and EA's SKATE of course... that stuff looks hawt!

Well honstly i kinda feel the wii is a bit childish in my opinion...

But i can't go speaking for everyone else and say something like " everyone's gonna outgrow the wii when their voices change.." Everyone doesn't think the wii is childish..

The Wii was cool, but it loses it's fun instantly.

The 360 and PS3 and more "grown up" consoles.

Like the PSP is to the DS.

    Hehehehe,silly Microsoft.

If the Wii is for kids, what kind of clients do you have?Because you'll get most profits from "kids" since adults are way more oriented to the PS3.
    Altough,i'd like a X360 for Fable 2.

Nintendo is made solely for children.

You have no idea what you're talking about.

I would say the Wii is made for young families with kids less than the age of 15 ... ~

well i also think nintendo is more for children...just look at theyre games they r mostly for under 12years old kids...thats not bad but thats how it is. on the other hand i think its kinda cool that they didnt followed the graphic hype like xbox360 and ps3. the only new thing i see on those consoles is that they have ubergraphics but the gameplay and all that shit stays the same and the nintendo guys kinda gave a **** bout the graphic and focused more on "fun with ure friends" :P

If the Wii had the type of games that the Xbox 360 has they wouldn't call it childish, its the only reason, and still, the Wii bought me with Tennis

haha that is hilarious, I totally agree to the Wii seems it is aimed at children more than any other age group. when you see the commercial for the wii. Its the WII guys playing with a family of people and there kids.

So i guess you could say one of the ploys is "buy this to have fun with your kids" or " the family console" Thats what i get it from it.

I love the Wii. Just not the game choices. If the Wii would pick up more games like the ones on XBox that would be the awesomest thing to ever happen. I still love the Wii.

Wii games are for family fun. I mean you don't play DOOM3 or FEAR with your grandmother on multiplayer.

Nintendo has always marketed thier console as the "Family Console" and so what you mostly find are T games and under. Seldom do you ever come across an M rated game in nintendo.

It's always been Nintendo's marketing strategy and Microsoft just pointed that out. Big deal, who cares what Microsoft says anyways. You really think they are gonna go, "Wii is a great console, you should buy it!" No.. of course not! This is buisness! Not a ****in family fued... get over it.
