Default Microsoft's new way of making money

Epic revealed several things Microsoft wanted to do

Listen to the 1up yours podcast, specifically where 1up interviews Mark Rein/epic about windows live and the downloadable content.

    podcast - http://zdmedia.vo.llnwd.net/o1/Podcasts/040607.mp3

Epic revealed that they couldn't release the 8 free maps for Gears of War because Microsoft wants to sell them. And the delays of these maps is because of Microsoft

Epic doesn't want the Games for Windows on their games because Microsoft wants PC gamers to subscribe and pay for online voice chat and buddy list. And Microsoft has restrictions on their Games for Windows or live anywhere initiative.

Microsoft, if it was a person, is a dick. Which is why I own no Microsoft products (except XP and a pirated Halo >.<). Sony is starting to adapt Microsoft's nature. It's really upsetting how money oriented video games are now. Even if they were in the past, it was never so apparent.

well epic can't do anything about it because microsoft already got a contract with them on gears of war 1 and 2 being on the 360 only, but if gears of war 3 comes out probably in 2010, it might be multiplat unless microsoft signs another contract with them but i'm sure epic is pissed enough already to not sign another unless microsoft pays up big

and oh by the way, PSN is free and Home will be better than XBL, not to mention that home will be free to use also.

I think this fits Microsoft and their customers pretty well.

As of now..........when i want to buy a game for some good old online play
I stick to the xbox 360 side of the store. ps3s online isn't up to par yet.
When this Home thing comes out i doubt ill sit around in a sim like place and talk with my friends i would rather do something in real life.

How can you say that Home will be Godly when it isn't even released yet? That's like saying SpiderMan 4 will be the best movie ever and it isn't even in development yet.

Also, you get what you pay for. XBL has great service despite it's ridiculous price. PSN might seem like heaven now, but you may experience neglect in the future.

I like how people always use free online as an argument against the 360. Who cares, if you can't afford to pay $50 every 13 months you can't afford a next gen console anyway.

And they say Sony's stuggling. Puh-Leeze... I can understand why they want to sell 8 more maps. That means they put those maps into development after the fact because they realised what a huge community that they spawned. Either that or they didn't want to overwhelm gamers with a huge selection of maps and there's no constant because people are constantly exploring something new.

You know this how? Unless you are an Epic representative, I'm just going to file this post into the "BS" cabinet.
