Check your non-unicode settings stuff.
If it's set to japanese or any other asian language you have to change it.

1. Do you live in Asia?
2. Have you ever done something to your settings to play an asian game?
If you answer no to both these question I probably can't help you.

Yes to #2... I believe I did change something for a Japanese game once... remind me how to change it back to normal? We'll see if that was the case
