I seriously still can't get all this hate on emos, most of the bands that are called emo in our days ends up classified as Indie Rock or pop-punk in the shops anyway.

Wow you are all ******s cept(cyber7 + Salyne). Emo is a genre of music. Emo was already around for a long time since the 80's when hardcore came out. MCR is not goth or Emo. Their really alternative now. Zaf you are a ****ing idiot Goth and Emo are totally Diffrent. Who ever says shit about emo and calls someone emo does not know the definition of Emo so do research before you speak ass wipe.

Calling someone Emo is just plain stupid. No human in the world is Emotionless. How would you like it if I started came up with an insutling name that categorizes you?

For example, you are a Whino. You having nothing better to do than go to a forum and cry and complain about people having feelings and the world is so unfair. Yet you contradict yourself to begin with by showing major emotions yourself because you go out of you way to search up YouTube videos for Emo people and post them here to try to look cool.
Thank You an intelligent person. Also, people you think are so called "emo" on youtube and such are called "scene". Some scene people are posers and some are not.

It's just a dressing trend in my opinion. So far from what I've seen it was Punk, Gothic and now Emo. It will die and be replaced like a generic korean mmorpg.

The term emo originated in the 1980s to describe a genre of music stemming from the hardcore punk music scene in Washington, D.C. Early bands labeled emo (or sometimes emocore) in this scene included Rites of Spring, Embrace, and Fugazi.[2][3][4] The term emo as a music genre has become broader and broader with time, and now is loosely understood to mean "rock music with emotionally-based lyrics or effect," which could be used to describe a broadly and poorly defined group of nearly every popular (or unpopular) rock band. The term is so loosely defined because its definition is still the subject of debate.[1][2][3] Emo now often refers to a person's fashion, personality, or both, as well as the music genre.

    Fashion

Emo fashion is usually defined to have roots in punk fashion as well as gothic fashion. By almost all current definitions, emo clothing is characterized by tight jeans on males and females alike, long fringe (bangs) often brushed to one side of the face, dyed black, straightened hair, tight t-shirts which often bear the names of rock bands, studded belts, belt buckles, Chuck Taylor All-Stars, skate shoes, or other black shoes—often old and beaten up—and thick, black-rimmed glasses.[1][2][5][6][7][8] Emo fashion has changed with time; early trends included haircuts similar to those worn by the Romulans and Vulcans in Star Trek, tightly fitting sweaters, button-down shirts, and work jackets (often called gas station jackets). This has fallen out of fashion nowadays.

yeah, i hate it when people try to label people

To me Emo is a type of music term used to describe something that has deep emotion, such as sadness or anger. What people tend to do nowadays is say that emo is all about sad, depressing, "cut your self in the corner". If you think of it like this, then all music is emo. Alot of music has different emotions in it, anger or sadness, therefore all music can be labeled as emo. But whatever it may mean, i really dont give two shits. If you label me, whatever, thats on you, i really dont give lol.

MCR isn't emo. I mean just because they dress in black (Sometimes) doesnt' mean their emo or goth. I mean have you listened to Fall Out Boy's 'From Under the cork Tree'? THE ENTIRE ALBUMN IS ABOUT A GIRL THAT LEFT HIM/CHEATED ON HIM. If that's not emo, he has stalker characteristics. Just because their clothes aren't black and they don't go around talking in scary voices, doesn't make them emo. They are in fact very emotional. On the other hand....

MCR has the song "Welcome to the Black Parade". Now this song may sound very emo, but it's about being triumphant. Here's the Chorus:

    We'll Carry on,
    We'll Carry on
And though your dead and gone believe me
    Your memory will carry on
    Carry on
    We'll carry on
And in my heart I cant contain it
    The anthem wont explain it.

They may sound like insance maniacs screaming thier heads off about "bodies in the street" or "your misery and hate will kill us all" but if you listen to the lyrics, it has a toally different meaning. For example, after the first verse it's all about triumphanting. Read the ending:

and on we carry through the fears
    ooh oh ohhhh
heres the poignant faces of your peers
    ooh oh ohhhh
take a look at me cause i could not care at all
    do or die,
    you'll never make me

cause the world, will never take my heart
you can try, you'll never break me
we want it all, i'm gonna play this part
wont explain or say i'm sorry

im not ashamed, i'm gonna show my scar
you're the chair, for all the broken

lose it here, because it's only..
    i'm just a man, i'm not a hero
just a boy, whos meant to sing this song
    just a man, i'm not a hero
    i, don't, care

    we'll carry on
    we'll carry on

Alot of songs have meanings other than what they seem like. Here's a link to Welcome to the Black parade: http://www.lyricsmansion.com/result/108299/

Here's a link to Fall out boy: http://www.lyricsmansion.com/search_...LL%20OUT%20BOY

Take some time and compare the two and how mainstream public has it confused.

You say that like they are different from normal human beings.

And P_G_6.. you are just going along with the.."metal is the best, nothing else can come against it"..

    which is totally ridiculous.

You are one of the ones who has no clue and no respect on how everyone else dresses themselves etc.

I bet.. if they don't dress like you, or listen to the same music etc.. you dislike them?

People like you need to start judging others on themselves.. not by your stereotypical rules.

No, i'm saying "they're", like theyre different people. Ya know? Theyre not ME. Theyre names are Taylor and Jordan, Theyre different people then I, since I am Silvio. Jeez.

The thought of them "being different then normal human beings" didn't even cross my mind, therefore in an attempt to prove me prejudice, you proved yourself prejudice for even thinking like that in your head.

Also, Metal IS the greatest genre in the world. I mean, to each their own, right?

Ok, why be so stereotypical? Emo isn't just music, ok? It used to be, get with the future, will ya? And, FOB and more early MCR, and Hawthorne Heights are emo, You guys don't have to be saying "Stop calling people emo, they aren't, they are just emotional, jeez." Emotional=EMO!!!!!! And, EMO IS A TYPE OF LABEL FOR PEOPLE WHO ACT THAT WAY, DRESS THAT WAY, AND LISTEN TO THAT MUSIC!!!! Also, Emo=goth fyi. Well, new goths I should say. Now, there are just metalheads and stuff, which emo is a wanna-be of that, they are just too emotional and all. I think that there are a lot of emo people, and they are just plain dumb . So, stop with the stereotypical stuff, and just get with the future, will ya?

I define Emo as people who harm themselves. Stupid bunch of people though, cutting wrists... for what? The time i spent on cutting wrists could have been used on something else. (Of course i am not Emo) If cutting wrists somehow gives you a sense of relief, why not consider suicide?
