It's an interesting album and LP's first parental advisory album (not including that JayZ crap). It's much quieter. There's a political song that's mainly rap. The album grew on me after listening to it all the way through, but it's doesn't make up for the drought of new content. 43 minutes is just way too short for the wait. It's worth listening to, but I don't think I'll buy it.
That's interesting. In the End was the first song I hated from them. It's too generic and follows the basic formula they always used to use (rap verse, chorus, verse, chorus, screaming bridge, chorus). I got tired of hearing it.
What the hell....why is it sound so screamo
Old Linkin Park is better...
They have become like 5 bands rolled into a ball. (no homo)
Chester looks like Bono with a mohawk in the "What I've Done" video.
Listened to them all and laughed super duper hard, they need to except the fact they were a trend band and noone gives a crap about them now ^^
I'll wait until the album comes out to say anything about being a "trend." It'll probably go platinum pretty quickly. It's not a bad album at all.
Reputation: 131Excellent, if they were just a trend band then when I buy this new CD I don't have to worry about scene kids(or whatever) running up to me and going "ZOMG I LUV 'DAT SONG!" As for my opinion, they sound a BIT more original, but I'm not sure how much. Whatever, as I've said, I'm buying the CD regardless.
=/
i cant find a download for Given up or giving up or whatever its called. ¬_¬
i keep getting a different linkin park song but people name it Given up ¬_¬
But yeah. Linkin Park are still alright, as always.
IMO they've always been mediocre, not great. not bad.
isit me or have they become even more emo?
Reputation: 15NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!![]()
Hybrid Theory was great, Meteora was good... I hope Minutes to Midnight is still good. "What I've done" isn't a bad song, but it's not hard enough...
I'll still buy the new album, but if it's not good then I won't listen much to it.
EDIT: I'm currently listening to QWERTY, I like it!
I already have the album. (its amazing what you can do with the internet)
I'd have to say, I don't like LP's new style that much. They just seem like your average rock band now. I only like 3-4 of the songs on the album, as of right now. Mike's old flow is gone, he dosen't rap as much, and what the f*ck is he doing holding a guitar? I thought he was the 2nd vocalist. Chester still has 50% of what he used to be. You still hear those great emo screams from the old songs still but, now it seems more just about singing. You don't hear much of that asian guy's (forgot his name) beats in the background. It just seems this album focuses on more of a alternative, classic/slow rock feel. This album falls short of both Meteora and Hybrid Theory.
Im sharing with you my most favorite song on the album.
It reminds me of LP's old style, proly why I like it so much.
Isn't much Chester in this song, its all Mike.
It shows Mike's rock side, since most of the time, he was the rapper.

LP was 'Nu Metal' ? They sound nothing like metal.
Reputation: 15Here's a 75 seconds preview of Given Up: http://lprussia.com/music/live_berlin/givenup.mp3
Sounds good! (Except of the beginning. :P)
EDIT: I found most of the new songs on YouTube and I have to say:
I like the old LP more than the new one. Most songs are slow, they aren't bad, but they aren't my style.
I'm still gonna buy the album when it comes out.
dude LP is not emo(I think emos r f*gs, no offence hate em), don't even think that they are. They are more Alternative Metal/ rap rock. I think that is why they are considered "Nu Metal" and if you don't believe me, read this:
Linkin Park is the best selling nu metal act with 40 million copies sold out of their first two full-lengths (Hybrid Theory and Meteora) as well as other non-traditional albums. Producer Ross Robinson was labelled by some as "The Godfather of Nu Metal" due to his producing of several notable Nu Metal albums, first of which was Korn's eponymous first album, as well as the follow-up Life Is Peachy which would become one of the defining albums of the genre, along with subsequent groundbreaking release Follow The Leader - band-member Head stated that their signature sound came from an attempt to emulate Mr. Bungle's guitar tone, which they referred to as "the Bungle chord". Nu metal bands also typically claim influence by more conventional metal acts, particularly Black Sabbath; [3]. Entertainment!, the 1979 debut from British post-punk group Gang of Four has been cited as an indirect influence.
The term "nu metal" was coined in the late nineties to denote the resurgence of metal in the public eye with the rise in popularity of bands such as Korn, theDeftones and Limp Bizkit, as well as the success of the traveling Ozzfest festival. The first ever reference to "new metal" was in 1997 in Spin magazine, describing a Coal Chamber concert(from the Italian version of the article). Ozzfest, unlike Lollapalooza, provided a venue solely for the metal scene. Ozzfest demonstrated that a sizable audience existed for new heavy metal sounds. Unlike previous eras who held bands such as Led Zeppelin as their icons, the newer bands typically drew direct inspiration from more recent metal movements (particularly thrash and alternative metal)[4].

well thats back with Hybird Theory and Metora, but the new album is more punk, classic rock and hip hip beats. WTF are we going 2 consider LP now??? punk? I don't know lol :P
Reputation: 30They suck now. I loved their old stuff. Hybrid Theory and Meteora were great albums but now I just can't listen to them...
They're trying too hard. I think they're just a buncha posers. I can't stand listening to QWERTY, gives me goosebumps all over - In a bad way.
Reputation: 10i do like their old style better, but this new style is fine too. just not as good. also, there was quit some screamo in their old style too.
Reputation: 15I think he's sleeping with open eyes.
Like that:![]()
Reputation: 218I for one am glad the nu metal crap is gone.
Their new stuff sounds a lot better.
And "Hold Nothing Back" sounds HARDLY like their old stuff!
He sings in the lower part of his range on the song, there's a breakdown, and its sound seems rawer.
And I also hear some clean guitar tones during the verse, not to mention the harmonic overlapping vocals which were virtually absent earlier.
I also hear there's solos on some tracks?
I'm really liking what I hear so far.
