Can you say Communist?
Reputation: 228You will be surprised at how stingy the China governent is in censorship and stuff. Banning this doesnt really surprise me ... I have seen them ban more "common" stuff =_=
Chine is NOT communist, just like the Peoples Democratic Republic of Zimbabwe was NOT a democratic rebublic. You can label your state however you like but it doesnt make it true.
China is a goddam fascist centralist state. A friend of mine spent a year out there working, he said the poverty made him sick to the stomach. His chinese work colleagues had to sleep 5 to a room and the room was bare concrete with crappy pallette things to sleep.
My uncle also spent a year working in China. Whilst calling one of his friends in England the phone went dead as soon as he said "yeah china is totally backwards its a really nasty place to live, i wouldnt want to live here". He tried calling back on his mobile and when he said the same thing his phone got disconnected. They monitor your conversations.. how ****ed up is that, its no surprise they banned wikipedia. Probably afraid it would undermine confidence in the state.
Massively centralised states like china thrive on the fact that no matter how unhappy people are with their poverty or lack of individual freedom they still support the state because they believe that it genuinely has their best interests at heart. The minute people start hearing opinions that criticise the stateit creates a crisis of confidence, then everyone starts asking questions. It happened in Russia years ago.
Reputation: 228all i can say is, the gap between the rich and poor in China is freakingly wide. And, its either a place is very high tech and modern, or its down right dirty and poor. The exsisting gap is just to big to be filled up. While the rich gets richer, the poor really gets poorer.
Got to say, China is slowly opening up its mind to foreign values and ideas, but yeah, censorship is still freakingly tight ...

Reputation: 228Doubt anyone in China will revolt~ trust me~ lol~ They just got to give more benefits to the poor, especially the farmers~
no, they give some benefits to the poor and then start a massive PR campaign about how the glorious state has helped its beloved workers.
The reality in China is that modernisation and industrialisation come before welfare and rights. That means tons of farmers and peasants get their land bulldozed so the state can build hueg factories that will manufacture and ship goods to america. Large swathes of the chinese population cant even afford the stuff that chinese industry churns out in the millions on a daily basis.
The rich areas like the business districts and such mostly look like western cities, really affluent and pleasant. The rest though is an amalgamation of really ancient buildings, hastily constructed worker housing and slums.
China now is going through a similar phase as britain experienced around about 1870-1910 when industrialisation really started to pick up.
