It's buy to play and then it's for free. You have to buy the expansions as well...

There are no expansions. Please think before posting. Each one is a stand alone that can be combined to give you extra bonuses to your pre-existing account(more character slots, extra inventory slots, and you can take one character and travel to the other lands). If it was an expansion, it would add to the pre-exisitng storyline of the first. Which it does not.

If you do not believe what I say, please read it from the developer's mouth. They state each game pack is not an expansion of Prophecies. They specifically call each pack a "stand-alone".

Guild Wars: Eyes of the North is the only expansion and it has not out, yet.

If you like PvP, its worth it.

The game is skill based, certain packs will last longer than others, but overall, all 3 of them are worth it. It all depends on what you want.

If you want a great storyline with a neb friendly enviroment, choose the fist.
If you want to get quick gameplay in, reach lvl 20 fast, and get into some serious PvP action, choose Factions.
If you want extra customizations to henchies, and decent storyline, try Nightfall.

Overall, anyone of the three is worth it, if you want skill based PvP. The downfall many see is that its max level is 20. But, the reason for the low level is cause its basically a PvP skill based game.

Cyber Is right. Oh and to answer your question metalclaw its buy to play and a very good game imo. If you like PvP and have a good enough computer to run it at a nice speed you'll have a great time.
