    Default PS3 firmware cracked...sorta.

Didn't see anything about this, so I'm hoping this isn't all that old.

    First off, relevant linkage: http://www.computerandvideogames.com....php?id=165699

The fight isn't over though - the game boots, but it doesn't actually play, so there's some way to go. And the exploit doesn't allow for the running of unofficial (homebrew) programs, which is where the real meat of modding lies.
It was only a matter of time, really. But as the quote above shows games load, but don't play. Well, the copied ones, anyways. The instant this is perfected though, I can see PS3 sales going up. Kinda like with the PSP, as I recall. Problem though, is that the PS3 has that huge price tag.

    Anyways, thoughts on this?

It might have a huge price tag, but think of hte savings once it can be hacked!! that and blu-ray burners come out...

Definitely a step in the right direction for the PS3 imo. Always love the ability to play all my foreign games on one system and the emulator scene gets very fun to watch.

very cool news! But alas it is sad once again that the new sony systems best games will be the emulated games from long ago. My best psp game is chrono trigger..nuff said.
