Rather choose crossbow because most of the time you will be skill spamming. But the bow looks way cooler. And the slingshot is so unique because no one uses it.

While I haven't tried an archer yet, i found my wing priest's damage while casting magic from the sky was much weaker. It's faster casting from the ground.

That also cuts the damage in half I believe. Also, if a mob you are attacking is unable to hit you, it's HP will regen rapidly and you will be unable to kill it. It works on players though I think. They probably won't be able to hit you depending on their class, but there is still a damage penalty.
