Maple Story looks like a Satanic Cult... Once you get in, you realise it sucks and its ruining your life, but you cant get out...

why ppl keep saying that a quest based system isnt a grind?
We must go forward, not backward. Upward, not forward. And always twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom!

Running back to town and talking to npcs is a bit better than just staying in a area and killing endless hordes of monsters for hours, and who knows you might actually get a quest that is actually worth reading and fun. And im guna pray that some mmorpg company is going to come out with a quest based game that has mostly interesting quests rather than kill stuff quests.

well,it depends. have u ever tried Cabal online? all its quests are fun and worth reading but...go like this:

start in town 1 officer, talk to officer in town 2, talk to officer in town 3, talk to a mage outisde town 4 (a damn walk), talk to grocer in town 2, go kill this (low lvl) mobs to get 10 of this,go back to town 2 grocer, go back to town 4 mage (another damn walk),go back to town1 officer. 5% exp reward

i'd have done 5 times more exp just hunting mobs, and in less time then travelling to all those locations.also its a ****** way of leveling, cuz sometimes u can get good exp,but at the cost of barely using ur skills, hence u arent getting skill points.
and in CO skills are the most important issue, not levels.

    a failed quest system,if u ask me.

I've never tried cabal but that does suck. Good quests should have good rewards too, but i would probably still do quests over grinding.

    GrindNation:
Maple Story(But you can buy 2x exp cards o_o)

    Not so much grind:
Risk Your Life 2(RYL2), Has the interactivity of a FPS in which u click to attack o_o and even at lvl 30 you are still getting liek 2-4% a kill.
(Action is kinda like oblivion, but you attack alot faster for melee)

Space Cowboy(It's a pretty big file though), Well, Because I love the action. The gameplay just makes it all fun, there's also high drop rates from mobs, so you might find good items on your way, so grinding didnt realy matter to me

Not to metion the deadly PvP and all the glitches when you drink too much..[Bad joke/]

But I agree, grind is more a matter of opinion now.
Maybe for a emo Real Life is grindy, but for me I'm leveling too fast.

PW's grind isn't that bad since there are a lot of quests and the quests give good rewards and are very easy to do, even with out a party they don't take that long. And past lvl 30 the game actually gets more fun since thats when flying and pking starts.

That's nice and all, but that's from what you've seen and read, you haven't experienced it yet so you wouldn't know.

well,Satio put a nice question i have been asking myself. how can some1 say that PW isnt grindy when most ppl that say so are like under lvl30?

if im not wrong,PW level cap is 99 or 100,rite?saying that at lvl2x it isnt a grind means shit.

just to name a few, Knight Online or Xiah, are games where 25 levels or so where done in a breeze, but after that the game became an unbearable grind.and KO caps at lvl70 (or maybe 80 in the new patches)

i'd like a lvl86 e.x come here and say "one quest give me 20% exp and takes me 15 mins to do,and i still have a few more quests to do",then i'll believe that the game grind is really that low.can we have a high lvl PW player telling us how it really goes?

cuz i have that horrible felling, that tells me ppl are getting lured into PW with a false promise of quick-and-fun leveling.

Once again a fault of the "level cap excuse".

You don't have to play an entire game to know it sucks or rocks. I sure as hell wouldn't want to play to lvl 100 in PW if it was totally fail in most accounts on the way too 100. You have fun experiencing the journey not the destination.

As far as I can tell, the grind in PW is basically a hiden grind. In my eyes there's three kinds of grinds:
    1. The Korean Grind - You grind, and grind, and grind, all for the sake of new and flashier weapons and armors
    2. The get-to-a-really-high-level-in-a-few-days Grind (or the GTARHLIAFD) - The game where the grind is barely there but you find there's no end game content
    3. The Hidden Grind - The type of grind where your so pre-occupied with other things that you can barely notice the grind. These are usually the really good games.
