Default Rise of the Argonauts: Codemasters is doing it again.....

I came across this when I was looking for some particulars for another post...... Its looks interesting.

Rise of the Argonauts immerses gamers in a gladiatorial adventure, set in wondrously imagined vision of ancient Greece. With deep exploration and epic quests, players will live a life of brutal combat as they lead a team of iconic warriors – including Jason, Hercules and Atalanta – through a world ruled by mythological gods.

Brutal Combat, Iconic Warriors - Rise of the Argonauts™ Revealed.

Lead a team of legendary warriors through an epic vision of mythological Greece - first trailer movie now available from www.codemasters.com/argonauts.

Prepare to live a life of brutal combat as Codemasters reveals the gladiatorial adventure that awaits in Rise of the Argonauts™. Now in development at Liquid Entertainment, this grand scale action-RPG is scheduled to launch in 2008 for Games for Windows® and major console platforms.

With deep exploration and epic quests, players will take the role of Jason, King of Iolchis, and battle alongside iconic mythological heroes including Hercules, Achilles, Atalanta and others. As Jason grows from young king to true legend, set sail aboard the Argo and explore the vast Aegean - a dynamic world of islands filled with shining cities, lush jungles and deep forests.

Gamers will leave their mark on ancient Greece as they engage in heart-pumping, lethal, blood-spurting combat against hordes of enemy warriors, ruthless beasts and truly formidable mythological creatures. Whether Jason is lopping off heads or cutting warriors in half with his sword or if Hercules is wrestling with giant beasts, the intense action in Rise of the Argonauts™ will leave players wanting for their next confrontation.

Like all true heroes of Greece, the gods follow Jason on his quests. Jason will gain the favour of the gods and earn special abilities, but his actions may please some gods and displease others. Earning a god’s favour will grant players powers within the god’s domain, but drawing a god’s wrath may cause them to inflict a torment on the heroes at the worst possible moment.

Get ready to confront the creatures of myth and legend in Rise of the Argonauts™, coming in 2008 for Games for Windows and major console platforms. Aspiring heroes can witness the action that lies ahead in the first trailer movie, now available to download from www.codemasters.com/argonauts (in Downloads).

Yeah, although, it may have a multiplayer mode which just so happens to be online...

Which might be quite cool actually...

O.o, that large dude looks like some sumo wrestler.

High res grafix, 3.0 shader, good textures, battle scars, boobs.

Will it have anything new that makes it stand out of crowd?

It would be comaprable to Age of Conan. Not that godly. Just another Action Based MMORPG. We need more of them with quality development.

This game will kick gratuitous amounts of ass if they stick to their plan.

    Flashy
    One hit
    Kills.

Only sign of any type of release date is at the end of the little trailer. Nothing much to go on......

Looks incredible. I hope the gameplay sticks up, sure looks like its going to.

The graphics are also incredible eye-candy. I think i'm looking forward to this one. Not many action styled RPGs as mentioned.

Well, the one Action RPG I continue to go back to is Dungeon Lords. Its quite fun and it has a sweet chararcter development systm. If you decide to purchase/snipe it, I suggest for you to get the collectors edition.

Previous builds of the game are broken.

You will have hours upon hours of gameplay. I like lock picking in it. Its a fun minigame.

well, i have only read bad things about Dungeon Lords, but those are all pre-CE editions.
How has the game improved over previous versions? i've always been wondering wether i'd get it, but if you say the CE edition is worth is, pray inform me.

Here, the CE only costs a little 20 euros anyway

Anyway, the bosses look "epic" to play, from what i've seen at least (the rhino like monster)
I only hope that is has somewhat of a replay factor, unlike Fable, which unfortunately didn't really have that (you could max your character completely in the first run, no need to play it again)

edit= there are in fact, quite a few action RPG's coming and already released. Devil May Cry, Beyond good and evil (godly game), Fable, Fable 2, The Witcher, ...

Eh... some of those I do not really consider true RPGs. You have to consider where I am coming from. When I played RPGs they were the pencil-n-paper kind where you made a character and gave it life. Unlike the premade ones in DMC, and the FF series (from PS1 on to the present).

I enjoyed the creation of the characters in D&D and Warhammer as much as I do playing those characters. You rarely see a single player RPG where you can create your character from scratch and then take it inot the game and give it life. Especially in consoles. You very very rarely see them in consoles anymore.

There are quite a few single player RPG on the PC, but the true RPGs on the PC have dwindled compared to when I first beagm playing on the PC (mid to late 1990's).

Thats is why I mostly play MMORPGs now. You have that creation process, but MMORPGs still lack a lot that would make them a real RPG. That is why I am still fond of Dungeons & Dragons online. Its the closest an MMORPG has gotten to the true RPG experience.

There is another that has some potential, it is called Age of Conan.

    This game is good...
And just because the graphics are decent doesn't mean the gameplay WONT be.
Some people tend to assume that... Im still yet to find a game like that...

    And on to RPGs...
Yeah I find that RPGs now days are so unoriginal and definently lack a real depth of character creation.
On that note, cant wait for Spore, hehe... That would have to have the best character creation of all time right there...

But with storys... No RPGS really have particularly good stories these days.
Who remembers the legendary Chrono Trigger...
I still don't know why I liked it so much? Maybe it was because I was young?
