Thunderbird question

i just got Thunderbird and need help setting up an account. do you need a server or something to make an account. because it needs incoming and outgoing servers. if not can someone tell me how to set it up the right way.

Thunderbird is an e-mail client. It connects to your e-mail accounts and manages your mail.

Thunderbird is not an e-mail account.

it says you have to create an email account though.

You put in your e-mail account, and you send a receive e-mails through it.

so how do i use my yahoo acc. theirs a web mail thing but i can only download an xmi file or something like that.
