Are you freakin' sick of all the damn Cartoon graphiced games? WTF, its going to be played by teens+ Not some freaking 9 yr old. I personally hate graphics that are like kiddie stuff..
What do you guys think? The sun shouldn't be smiling when you are killing things! IT JUST DOESN'T WORK!

Not really gameplay>Graphics IMO. Anyways Yes I think a smiling sun is appropriate when killing things, I also think he should have sunglasses and it should be holding 2 scooper things of raisins.

It's not so much that it makes me mad, it's just... Bleh ha ha. I just don't like the looks of it. I'd play it, but it's not something I'd get in to. Stuff like 2Moons, Cabal Online, Silkroad is more my type of graphical game. That's the type of mmorpg I'm gonna make after college using the 2Moons Caron graphic Engine with the Cabal Online lightning speed attack style.

Well, they ruin the cel-shaded graphics, so yeah, I'm pretty sick of it. If they made it more mature, as in adults instead of little kids, it'd be OK, I guess. Either way it goes, you'll be playing a grindfest. :P
Maybe graphics can matter. I mean, at least you'll be staring at pretty lights and fake blood when you're WATCHING the battle you're actually taking place in.

There are only few cell-shaded online games currently out( at lest in english).
So I honestly can't understand those saying there are millions of 'em.
I don't mind either styles, some anime-styled games can have charming visuals without being super-cute-I-ate-a-candy styled.. And some more realistic or fantasy-based games can also have gorgeous graphics.

I think Mabinogi has charming graphics, without falling under the super-cute lines. And fantasy styled games like EverQuest 2, DDO, and Lineage 2 have gorgeous graphics too.
It's true that most MMORPGs are cartoony in our days, but honestly, there are enough games with other visual styles too. Cell-sahding though is really rare(in english), and isn't always super-cute, let's just look at Metal Gear Ac!d, and I've seen a couple of others ( wich were online too).

I think cartoony graphics often add positively to the overall fantasy atmosphere. Unless the game is super character customizable, I almost always prefer cartoony graphics.
OMFG, I am so sick of people abusing female characters in games. V_V; It's utterly pathetic that girls feel like they need to use male avatars to be taken seriously or not get harassed, and actually have to prove they are female players when using female characters. I don't give a crap whether you're into lolicon or "wanna see breasts and women", but just get the Many Men Online Role Playing as Girls the **** out of my MMORPG. Wanting to fap to real women is not a reason to want to use realistic graphics. It's a reason to get a damn girlfriend.

Not sure what you're referring to here. I presume you mean that most male mmo'ers don't have girlfriends, which is pretty much my point. If they get a girlfriend, they shouldn't need to play as female characters with massive **** and skanky armour to get off on (not that they ought to anyway; ), or even female characters in general- screwing it for the rest of us.

I personally could care less about the graphics .. as long as the gameplay is good, graphics isn't everything.

the fact that anime/cute is a genre doesn't bother me, but what does irritate me to death is the insane flood coming from asia.
i'm not saying this in a "racist" way (i love asia, i study chinese and i'm going there for 6 months within 2 years, there!)
but the have absolutely 0 creativity.
9/10 cute games are plain copies of the previous one.
i have seen the same elements in 90% of all cute games
-they look the same
-they feel the same
-they ARE the same
there are 3 archtypes of copy-able cute mmorpg's
-the side scroller: i.e. Maplestory
-the open world: i.e. Deco (the most copied type so far)
-the stage based: i.e. Lunia
it's just insane how they can't think of something completely diffirent for a change. Sure, in asia and maybe in the US/EU they might be "popular", but why not develop something new, out of thin air. The whole idea of making a massive game hit is to be innovative.
I'm looked out on all those clones. there's an 99% chance that, when there's a topic saying "new game released" here on ONRPG, that game is a Cute game ...
And whoever said something about realistic 3d being all blocky.
3 words: what..the..hell?
it's 2007, a descent graphic intensive mmorpg isn't blocky (i.e. Lotro, EQ2)
if it's blocky, it means you're pc isn't badass enough to run them blocky-less ..
and don't give me the "ZOMG i gotz quad core, 4gig, 8800GTX SLIz!", that's rubbish
