There's clearly no reason why this person should have been barred from entering the US.
This is just another sign that the Bush administration's expanded powers (ie. Patriot Act, Guantanamo Bay ongoing affair, authorization of torture, etc.), voted in because of the government-generated fear post-9/11 are being abused, and have been being abused.
