Default Perfect World - As perfect as its name? - First Impression Review

This is the first time I am writing a review, so pardon me if I am horrible at it...

This game is famed for its graphics... screenshots, videos, the graphics are just so great... So I happily downloaded the game, filled with anticipation, looking foward to enter the "perfect world".

As I launched the game, I was prompted to select methods of patching phrased with weird English with a heading named "patch", which made me slightly disappointed.

When I was finally able to enter the game, the music and looks of the login in screen raised my optimism... the loading screens are simply beautiful...

Wow... so much customizations! I made my character as "cool" as I can make him, and proceed to the game... A feature no other game I've played had.

I entered the game, the pleasent music can be heard, but the graphic left me totally crestfallen... To my dissatisfaction, the game was nothing like the screenshots. Furthermore, the system requirements are just ABSURD in comparison to the game's sub-standard graphic. To make it worse, my graphic card is unable to withstand the high requirements of the game (a GeForce 7600 should be enough, but...). Disappointed, I proceeded to try out the game.

I started off as a Elf Archer, and had 2 skills to begin with... the animation of actions and monsters are not bad... but, something in my head is urging me to quit... WAIT! I saw a flight icon! I quickly pressed it... and watched with awe as my character flipped over and spread his wings. WOW! The quitting urge went straight out of my head... I enjoyed my little flight as I zoomed (SLOWLY THOUGH) around the landscape.

The paragraphing of quests and tips are horrible. Words can be seperated into 2 rows and it is simply exasperating to read them all. Finally some action! I began to use my skills, and the animation is not bad at all.. The skills are neat and flashy, and abundant, too.

Concluding my review, this game is very WORTH playing compared to other F2Ps, even though the graphics did not meet my EXPECTATIONS (note: expectations), but it is way better than other 3D MMORPGs like Rappelz.

I am currently still playing after a day, and is now Level 5 (xD I am newb I know it).

I appreciate for you all to read this wall of text,
    hengyu.

elf archer are actually the hardest to play in PW since they have low damage output and NEEDS to stay in range to not get killed easily, priest are actually more powerfull with all the buffs and self healing

anyway, I consider PW to be a Great F2P game, better than most generic grinders out there, although the questing system could become boring in the end I enjoyed the solo-playing and the fact that every quest either gives you more exp or a magic usefull item, thus making it different from most grinders which gives you nothing except the exp you got for killing the mobs

Graphics suck, the only good looking thing they have is the water graphics
    I have a 8800 GTS 640mb

Meh, despite how many people are hating on the graphics, I find the scenery to be quite beautiful with everything on max. I suppose the screenshots set the bar too high and people got disappointed. But i've learned not to let screenshots set my expectations :P.

I agree though, it does takes up quite a bit of resources, granted i'm still on a x1600xt :P.

superb compared to what, may i ask?

this game is relatively cloned from any asian mmorpg.

unless u mean every single mmorpg in the last 5 years have been "superb", i cant understand your tastes...

im not a PW hater for the shake of it. in fact i give most f2p games worse scores then PW, so in a certain way im admitting PW is better then all of them.i just dont give the next step and label PW as a great game...
We must go forward, not backward. Upward, not forward. And always twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom!

the graphics does not suck, maybe you don't like it, but because it is based on a subjective opinion it doesn't mean the actual graphics sucks, I happen to actually tweak the game with antialiasing and anisothropic filtering and looks great, not as cool as a offline game but is better than most F2P games out there

I guess it's basically the same as WoW in the fact that both of them were born from a 5 year MMORPG orgy.

    Yeah.

But both feature almost every feature from MMOs over the years.

Also, @Topic, A "First Impression" can't be a review. It's just that; your first impression.
