Instead why don't you just use a transparent background?
It would be more usefull for you to figure out how to get this to work in the longrun,Just make sure you save it as a file that supports transparency...like .PNG

Oh well thats easy....Just go to the background layer,and use the magic eraser tool to get rid of the area ,It will show little black and white squares. Then save it to a png file.
