New developer Avatar Reality is working on a new multiplayer virtual world, Blue Mars, and it is showing up at the E for All show with a look at how its Blue Mars massively multiplayer online virtual world.
In this virtual world, inhabitants will be able to live fantasy lives with personalized avatars in a terraformed Mars. The game is going to target the high end PC with a quad-core microprocessor and an Nvidia GeForce 8800 graphics card.
Based on the hardware specs the company gives, it´ll require some advanced machinery to support it. It´s set on terraformed Mars, features customizable avatars, and will feature high-end graphics using CryTek´s CryEngine 2 middleware,which is being used to create "Crysis." They´re also licensing the StreamBase Systems engine to process a lot of different events simultaneously.
Kaz Hashimoto, a former Electronic Arts vice president and the president of Hawaii-based Avatar Reality, says the world will debut in beta form in late 2008. The advisors to the company include "mastermind" Henk Rogers and Alexy Pajitnov, the creators of Tetris, as well as former Nintendo of America CEO Minoru Arakawa.
