    Default Humanity

Firstly I am NOT a emo, goth, gangster or any-other social groups I'm just a 14 year old boy who hangs out with a group of 3 other people. I made this post to see if other people have the same thoughts on the subject personally in the last couple of weeks from watching the news and learning thing from histroy, such has slavary,ww1/2 and other world changing events I do knw that these people only make up a part of the world, but lately it seems they have started to out number the respectable people in the world I've started to lose faith in humanity. First I'll start with the universal declaration of human rights many things in the declaration are being broken, I can understand human natural and the reason why some of these things are being broken but things such as torture and taking the life of another human being unless for self defence is sick and twisted. second people wage wars over the stupidest of things for an example land, which can be talked over i have to say the dumbest of people are in control of the world at this moment. They act like children waging war over land i can understand why they wage war but I personally think that if you have to have a war and kill many of the kind and brave people of your country for a couple miles or yards or whatever of land your kind of perfetic if you want the land so bad risk your own life for it not others. anyway that's what i think of it what are you guys thoughts?

Property is theft, possession is murder, and owning is a crime. Personally, I believe land is for everyone, and no one person owns it. Its impossible to own a plot of land, so theres no need to wage war over something. I don't support boarders or boundaries, and I don't support rules and regulations. Am I being a stereotypical teen? Yes. Am I doing it better than any other teen? Absolutely. I UNDERSTAND the things I support, unlike most others.

Oh, and, in a capitalist society, everyone is looking out for number one. Number one being the almighty dollar- which is sad in its self.

Complaining will do nothing by the way, but, you asked.

that's pretty much how nature works. It is in our instinct to do that type of stuff. living things need to be selfish to survive its just the way we evolved i guess. All this talk about the morality of these things is probably just that our society has evolved faster than ourselves.

That's most likely right. For greed to be inherent in virtually all Human beings, it must serve some evolutionary purpose.

For civilization and the individual living in civilization, greed is mostly a bad thing. For the survival of the species in general, short of nuking for selfish reasons, yes, it's good for us. Competition is healthy for natural selection. I don't mean that like Social Darwinism, just general natural selection.

Humanity is ruled by ideas. Not instinct, or nature, or original sin, but ideas. What we think of as "instinct" is really just thousands of years of cultural brainwashing. In the end, it's the ideas that those instincts are made of that rule us, and in an intelligent society, the right ideas will always have a chance. You just have to find them.

Now, for my two (Or three...) cents on politics.

I believe that the only government that can work is a small one, like the kind of government the U.S. was supposed to have, but then Lincoln came in and blew it apart. A government should be in charge of protecting it's citizens against internal violence (Running a just police force; dealing with criminals and enforcing a just system of law; etc) and external violence (Defense against foreign invasion, but never starting invasion of it's own). Everything else should be left to the people who are living in their own societies, and ultimately people should be left alone as long as they are not hurting anyone else (This is a very simplistic way of stating it, I know, but I doubt anyone wants to read four paragraphs of me running on).

In short, the ultimate free society, where a man is free to live as he wants as long as he is not harming the way of life of other men.

    @ Marineking

That's interesting. My concern with that sort of idea is that a small government would have little control over, and would probably end up being controlled by, big business, which is only interested in the bottom line, and not about human rights or protecting the environment.
