And so, go Intel.

Everyone has been waiting sooooo long for AMD's next generation chips where they promised a 60nm architecture. And here Intel comes, allready releasing a preview of their next gen chips code named "Penryn," which will be coming out in Jan 08, as they release the Q6950 this month, the first of cpu's to introduce Intels 45nm Structure.

45 > 60

Intel's C2D's were 60nm....
45nm = a whole lot less energy, a whole lot less heat, a whole lot better overclocking
Thats because Intels CPUs are notorious for overheating, not so much a problem with AMD. The OP doesnt look like he wants to spend a ton of money, which is wise considering the rate at which technology is released to the consumer market.

While i agree whole heartedly that the lower the nm the better, but it really comes down to the impact on the gamer themselves. At this date and time, its not really worth it for PCs. It really will not make that big of an impact to warrant spending so much more.

Additionally, i do not recommend anyone over clock, its not really needed in this day and age for current PC cpus.
