ic ic but what worries me is that the quad core is only 2.4 ghz thats like the minimum requirements for Hellsgate:London which is for vista so ima scared it wouldnt run hellsgate as efficiently

Dont waste your money. Quad Core is pointless right now. Dual is really all that is actually needed.

Go AMD and build it here http://www.ibuypower.com/ibp/store/c...r.aspx?mid=182

Upgrade the cpu if you really want to, buy additional RAM/upgraded GPU on newegg.com for better price.

Choose which case you like best. I recommend the Coolermaster Ammo.

PS: I do not suggest Hellgate london, but that is just my personal opinion.

If you're going barebones, you're obviously an upgrader.

    And so, go Intel.

Everyone has been waiting sooooo long for AMD's next generation chips where they promised a 60nm architecture. And here Intel comes, allready releasing a preview of their next gen chips code named "Penryn," which will be coming out in Jan 08, as they release the Q6950 this month, the first of cpu's to introduce Intels 45nm Structure.

    45 > 60

    Intel's C2D's were 60nm....
45nm = a whole lot less energy, a whole lot less heat, a whole lot better overclocking

They r made with less transistors or som shit n therefor are hella cheap and will be released using the same pricing module as the C2D's. And they'll support the LGA775 cpu socket. And they recently overclocked their stock clocked 2.66ghz beta Penryn chip at the Intel factory to 5ghz at being only slightly overheated with liquid cooling. Easily reached 4ghz w/ air cooling.

EDIT: Also with that said, dont buy from one of those 2. If you're going barebones, look for the new X38/38X chipset motherboards. They support so much more (penryn support, PCI-E 2.0 for those Geforce 9 cards coming out). Or if you really want to wait, som company will be implementing a new CPU socket type for the penyrns sometime middle 2008. And if socket 775 lasted for hella years (4-5?) imagine how ahead u would be with that new socket type, especially as we reach our peak of this computer age.

You'll need at least 2 gigs of ram to run anything well with vista. As well as a good video card, I would invest in the low end 8800s if you don't want to spend on a high end one.

Id go with the duel core. The quad is for people to add ram like mad. Im running it well with 2.8 ghz.

What Ive noticed is what really makes it lag is using high resolution (im using a 21 inch so it lags like mad) if You get one with like 2 gb of ram and a descent video card (normally comes with computer) just lower the resolution and it will run plenty smooth with good graphics.

Thats because Intels CPUs are notorious for overheating, not so much a problem with AMD. The OP doesnt look like he wants to spend a ton of money, which is wise considering the rate at which technology is released to the consumer market.

While i agree whole heartedly that the lower the nm the better, but it really comes down to the impact on the gamer themselves. At this date and time, its not really worth it for PCs. It really will not make that big of an impact to warrant spending so much more.

Additionally, i do not recommend anyone over clock, its not really needed in this day and age for current PC cpus.

Sorry, I highly doubt you can run everything on high in HGL with that setup, and being smooth. Unless you're running everything on a lower resolution.

AMD currently lacks in the CPU unit, unless in the last 2 months they have released a new model. If not I don't know what some of these people are saying but Intel has the faster processing units.

Intel currently has the fastest out on the market yes, but you still have to pay the price for that fast CPU.

Price vs efficiency, AMD still wins hands down. I do not know how AMD will respond to Intels latest CPUs, but we do not really need that processing power for average gaming unless someone is doing some professional work on their PC. This is why it is often a waste to spend so much to get the best out.

Buy what you will use and keep the price low, because technology is always outdating itself. Thats just my philosophy that is. The only thing excluded from this philosophy is GPU's. Its often best to get a good one and hold onto it for as long as possible.
