Intel currently has the fastest out on the market yes, but you still have to pay the price for that fast CPU.
Price vs efficiency, AMD still wins hands down. I do not know how AMD will respond to Intels latest CPUs, but we do not really need that processing power for average gaming unless someone is doing some professional work on their PC. This is why it is often a waste to spend so much to get the best out.
Buy what you will use and keep the price low, because technology is always outdating itself. Thats just my philosophy that is. The only thing excluded from this philosophy is GPU's. Its often best to get a good one and hold onto it for as long as possible.
