Why did you take cabal as example =P
I agree with most of the parts you typed. but not all. There are other reasons why people play games.
video game obsession is about as real as the tooth fairy.
there is no "video game addiction" its all in your head that you think your addicted, and when you think you are you mind translates that to an actual feeling.
such as Anorexia is not a disease but something wrong with the person's mind.
Reputation: 18if you play on the computer 4 hours per day , youre playing 14 YEARS and 1 month
of youre life....
"addicting " was meant to used in real life situastions !
addicted to drugs , addicted to cigarete .
you cant be addicted to video games , if you have an high enough IQ youll have the will to quit .
its not based on IQ when it comes to drugs or such and yes if you realize "this is a good game but i don't need to play it 24/7" you won't
Reputation: 119Lol...personally I've never experienced this "video game addiction" except for when I used to be depressed and would use GunZ as an escape....I didn't go overboard but I played it almost every second I was home unless I had to eat or something...but then I stopped playing it and I've never been "addicted" to another game.
Btw it's "physiologically addictive" not "psychologically addictive" meaning there are no chemicals released that are going into your brain making you want to play it again, like tobacco or alcohol, the only reason you can become addicted to it is if you use it as a sort of "escape" where you can forget about real world problems....personally I don't think it's dangerous whatsoever, you choose to use it as your escape then go right ahead....everyone has an escape of some sort such as a lot of people at my school takes pills as an escape, some people play basketball or another sport, some draw, some use schoolwork, some watch TV, the list goes on...there are much worst things to get addicted to than video games such as heroin or alcohol which can actually damage you badly, video games help you develop hand-eye coordination, problem solving, and others depending on the game of course.
Personally I just use video games to entertain me, I play them till they bore me and usually they bore me within 2-3 hours at the most so I watch movies or some kind of show to entertain me like south park or something.
Note that I'm not a psychologist or anything this is just my thoughts about it and I could very well be wrong, it's just judging from my experience with life.
Edit : Some other thing I forgot to say. If you want to stop becoming "addicted" to video games, use them as a reward not an alternative. For instance, when you get home, do your homework and chores then play games. It turns video games into entertainment instead of a need.

It's rather epic.
Yes thats right children let us all flame someone who took the time and effort to construct a long and well thought out post because reading is too much work.
By all means let us encourage the majority of posts containing ******ed internet short hand typing on topics like "hay wutz a gud game 2 play?"
You bring up a lot of interesting points Duo. It made me think about why I choose to play online games, and why I play the ones I do. Very well done.
/cheers for a quality post
