    Default EBGames?

    Are they ridiculous??

I bought The Orange Box from EB Games 2 weeks ago. When I got home and tried to install the game, it says the cd-key is already in-use.

So I'm like "Ok I will just exchange it for another copy"

Next week I exchanged the game, got home tried it and the cd-key was IN-USED AGAIN.

Has EB Games ever failed you??

    This hasn't happened to me.
    Try reporting it to Steam/Valve/Whatever.

"What this means is that employee's are now empowered to spend up to 10 minutes with
you arguing until you decide to get a pre-owned game. Our DM specifically said to do this, and gave examples of times where he's flat out refused someone a
new copy of a game until the person agreed and went for the preowned copy."

"I happily rock up to EB Games today to collect my pre-order of Guitar Hero 3, which the manager delightfully told me yesterday would be sitting there waiting for me to pick up.

I arrive at the cashier, hand over my ID and to my suprise, he just looks at me and says "we sold the last one 10 minutes ago" "

Along with various other complaints about Ebgames. I've heard NOTHING but negatives...and those bastards ripped me off BIG TIME on my PSX trade in. I told them to "go **** themselves" if I remember my wording correctly. Ebgames is a joke...I just buy stuff online.

Whine more. I hate when people freak about Gamestop/Eb Games.

    They are a corporate business, they aren't going to give you 40$ for your 50$ games in a trade-in, they are a business out for a profit. About the CD Key, the keys were defective most likely, that could happen anywhere. It's not like Gamestop/Eb Games ran over to the Orange Box and used the keys, or put fake ones in it... ;

Asking me to complain more? You still have the anti-/b/ thing in your signature...

But, I realize they arn't going to give me top dollar for my used games. But, when they turn around and resell something I gave them for $4 for $45, I have an issue with their policy. Even the employees think the place is shit.

I heard EB Games forced their employees to recommend any game to customers. If they give negative feedback about a certain game a customer asks for they might get fired. I hear they even hire fake customers to do these checks.

    Just a rumor.

    It is a rumor.

I used to work at an EB and I know that isn't true. Though we were told to recommend games to customers.

Example: If some likes Super Mario we recommend the customer the most current title in the Mario series for whatever system they have (i.e. if they have a Wii it'd Super Mario Galaxy).

Plus we were allowed to let someone try out a game they are interested in on one of the demo systems.

You can't fire someone due to a customer's opinion. That's too unethical, can create lawlsuits, etcetera.

Yes, it is true that Gamestop has its share of unethical practices, but nothing that harsh.

Now say if the employee was treating the mystery shopper like shit, then yes they would get fired. But those shoppers actually aren't hired by Gamestop, they're hired by a third party company. They send in the "customer", they ask for help from one of the employees and take note of their actions, go home and write a review of the employee, send it to Gamestop's HR (or whoever is in charge of hiring/firing people) and they decide from there.

If it's a valve game, it's better and cheaper to just purchase it via steam. In the end you'll have to put it into steam anyway, but if you purchase it via steam, there isn't that key-code issue that you're having.

    EB Games always = fail.

Even before GameStop bought them out. I remember reading from a past employee that they were forced to recommend games to customers, no matter how bad it was. I also remember reading from that same article that the refurbished and used systems were sometimes kept in the bathroom, or were laden with roaches and that whoever bought them now had piss-consoles with roach egg attachables.

At any rate, GameStop has always screwed me over. I now go there only to buy a game. Only.

    I head in, head out.

i would not blame ebgames directly, doesent sound like if its there fault.
also to the haters, the place is not that bad, i have never lost a preorder, they give in decent trade in credit if you dont sell shit games.
hell, i got my 360 for a 160$. they had a deal were if you bring 10 games worth 10$ or more, they give you the 360 for that price. sure, your gona say i paid those games ALOT more back in the days, but now, there just sitting on a shelf, never to be played again, if they can get me a more then 60% discount on a console, i say ****yes.
