Default A worthwhile b2p FPS experience

I'm planning to invest in a few FPS game for a long time. Looking for those that has great replayability, most importantly too, multiplayer action!

Firstly, I like games like battlefield, moderate pace and require some level of teamwork. I'm considering Battlefield 2142, but one consideration. It requires alot of team effort.
Can I just like jump into a random game and mix with the team? Is there alot of dedication needed? eg. joining a clan, using vents, because that's something i do not really like. I'm quite of a casual long-term gamer.

Secondly, other games like Team Fortress 2, Crysis, COD 4 and FEAR, are they worth for their multplayer experience?

Another game I'm looking forward to is Unreal 3. I play deathmatches. They do not require teamwork, just pure hardcore action, like Quake 3.

    What do you guys think?

COD4 is teh pwnage. I don't have it myself but...

On the fourth or fifth day that it came out it logged millions of minutes, second behind WoW, and even the single player mode amassed over 1 million minutes.

You can check it right now: www.xfire.com

    When I posted this link,

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Multiplayer
7,366,967 <----Minutes played during the day (At about 4:20 PM, which means that it's still going to go up a lot).

The single player has dropped out of the top 10, probably because most of the players already beat it, seeing as its so short.

Well, the multiplayer part of FEAR is free.

You could also play COD4 (including multiplayer) free, but I'm not allowed it discuss it .

No, you get extra skills when you rank up. It's made so a person who's played for 100 hours can equally beat a person who's played for 1 hour.
