Aint so new though, has been around for some years.
With those topics, any scientist can come forward nowadays and say: Yes I still am doing the same as 5 years ago, but hey, I am optimistic now and they make it a big hustle.
Its obviousely not technicaly usable in large scales, so nothing will change until they realy invent something, besides playing around experimenting...
(Well, they should play around as well, but it aint worth the boasting about old news.)
