This is purely for me to gauge everyone's tolerance of "offensive" material, and get a better grip of things as they are. Now to business.

Well, with a gun in your mouth, I don't think you'd be able to speak very clearly and thus your answer would really not matter.

dude, you do realise it is impossible to argue a point from a totally objective standpoint. anyone who says they can do so is lying and has an overinflated sense of self importance.


So how about when one political party uses its own party bias and spin to detract from the opposition? Or in a religious debate those arguing for it use scriptual evidence as fact whereas those in opposition reject that scripture is actual fact. Is that not solely based on opinion? Does it make it sad and the argument uneeded?

So you're a person who believes everything is relative then? Logically, you can argue something objectively. If you shy away from that fact, you render all ideas of facts, and realism useless. It's like saying that we all might live in the matrix. Even if such where the case, you still have to live in this world and accept it's "facts" if you are to function as a being within this sphere of realism.
If I argue that a circle is round, then I'm arguing objectively, because no matter what you say, you can't make a circle square. Similarly, you can't argue that 2+2 becomes 5 because it's incorrect.
To think otherwise, has through experience proved to be very destructive for a human being.
Notice, how most people who want to NOT take responsibility for their actions, especially their negative ones, will at some point claim that their cases are relative. If everything is relative, and you believe it to be so, you lose all backing arguements(that are not based on an emotional and subjective view of moral) in all kind of discussions, even if you were to argue whether or not child-****-killing is a negative action or not.

In my opinion (now we're talking opinions again) the all the arguements you mentioned are sad and un-needed.
This is obvious by the fact that they are all completely biased and detached from reality.
A party who uses bias to destroy opposition is truly sad. Firstly, it means they do not have enough actual motivating factors based in reality to win the arguement. That's sad. Secondly, if they "win" the arguement, it's sad because people are fooled and taken advantage of because they are unable to use their intelligence to see through the bias and lies.

People who discuss religion(don't knit-pick, you know exactly what kind of discussions I'm refering to) IMO are truly truly sad, as religion itself, isn't based on any type of physical evidence. It's all based on belief. People who try to argue religion realistically, and objectively have failed to realize that doing so is impossible and contradictive to the definition of what "objective" and "evidence" really is. This to me is sad. Why can't people just make a clear sepperance between complete facts, and belief and let people have their own beliefs.
Basically, people should just believe what they will and live their own lives accordingly.

Example: Let's say the bible says "kill furries". Now, the only fact here is that the bible says kill furries. That can't be denied. Whether it's right, wrong, the words of god, or words of degenerate psychos, is unknowable, hence unusable as facts, rendering them useless in a proper discussion. Discussing it is therefore a waste of human resources and time.
It can be compared to actions such as needlessly counting the amount of snowflakes passing by your house at winter.
Even if you were to feel that you gained something from counting the snowflakes, it's not the actual counting of the snowflakes that carried a certain atribute which did so, it's you as a person doing that certain action that enabled you to gain something from it.

If we discuss something useless and completely subjective like personal opinion regarding a certain religion, whatever you gained from it, doesn't come from the actual discussion, it comes from your individual human mind and how you relate your personal knowlegde and experience to the words and phrases used in the discussion

However, if you discuss something like "what is the most efficient way of building a building", one can use established facts to determine a real, and tangible answer.

The reason I call these discussion useless, is that in the end, you all start arguing over things that don't have tangible answers. You try to push your opinions, and emotions over on others, and have petty quarrels over things that you really have no need to argue over. If someone here says "omg, WOW sucks", you at once get sucked in, and instead of actually listing tangible facts about the game to give a more or less accurate picture of the game, you just start saying that it "rox" or "sux" and birate the other for saying otherwise. Is that really nessevary? I don't think so, and I think it's sad.

I involved myself in this discussion, not to convince anyone that they can't like, or find this thread usefull, but rather to show you, that you shouldn't be arguing over opinion to begin with! If you were arguing over factual points, were one party was clearly wrong, I wouldn't care, cuz in the end the arguement would die down, and who was right would be pretty obvious.
However, seeing people having endless arguements over things that can NEVER be settled, is to me sad, and useless. I'm simply trying to get this point to come through. I enjoy going to onrpg. I enjoy reading a lot of what's here, and I want the community to be as good as possible. I can't win em all, but I hope at some point people will actual learn, and perhaps having threads like this will be easier.

Have you people really, NOT noticed how often threads like these fail and gets locked down? Guess why. It's because you guys spam eachothers opinions.
