Legal Name Changes

Okay....so, those of you who know me by name know me as Jeph. Maybe even Jeph Pratt for the few of you who know that.

My legal name is actually Jeffrey Pratt...which I don't like. I know a girl in my school who got her name legally changed to "Jyll" from "Jill" (not as cool as mine :P) Does anyone know someone who has done this? Is the process that big of a deal? Is there a fee required to do this?

I've found some sites with a .pdf for a name change request. It looks like it costs money to get the .pdf, not to change a name (heh, theres some free ones out there).

Before you ask, I'd like to change it because its a good conversation starter. It really is. You'd be amazed at how many people ask me about my name. I use the name in school (they don't mind), I use it to get mail...I use it for everything. Most of the time, I forget that Jeph isn't my real name! I write Jeph so much, I forget that on legal documents and shit, I have to write "Jeffrey". Its such a pain, I'd like to get it changed :3

Have someone adopt you haha! you really can get it changed to whatever you want... it could be FRIEDCHICKEN if you wanted it... but yea i was looking for something like that the other day...google it... 40 bucks for a name change package and what not... thats what it said. but yea hope that helps.

Nah. I don't want something like that. Just Jeph is good. I dunno what I'd offer as a reason for changing it. My religion likes the letter "p" more than "f". I could say that.

i think u can get ur name changed with parental supervision or being of the age 18 and do it urself at a court house
you might need ur social # and other personal info
maybe a birth certificate
but yeah u gotta be 18 or have a parent

ive always wanted to change my name to Ace but i think ill just have my friends call me Ace and keep my real name Josh aka Joshua

I forgot that most places have a "nicknames" thing. I dunno. I'd just like my legal name to be "Jeph", so when a cop thinks I'm drunk cause I can't spell my name...its on my license. Lol.

Jeph just looks akward and stupid, why not just use jeff

It does seem like sort of a bother. Maybe if your name was Peggy I'd vouch for a name chance, but Jeff isn't a bad name.
