    Default If you're planing to go on a mmorpg testing spree...

    ... Do NOT in any way test WoW first! It WILL ruin all your future mmorpg experience because it is simply the best. I've tested about 50 mmorpgs already and i must say that every time i come back to WoW, even after months, I still think of it as the best. Its really simple:
    . The WASD movement couldn't be smoother. When playing other mmos (like Shaiya or ZU were the last ones i tried) i just feel that the wasd movement is so uncomfortable, its like you were moving a piece of wood
    . The content, questing and leveling is by far the best
    . The graphic isnt the best but it has its own style(WC3) and its very artistic, like it was all drawn by hand of a professional painter. Other games just feel like cubes + highly detailed textures pasted on them - I still prefer something more interesting like unusual shapes.

    I could go on but thats not the point, thats not a WoW brag post. Anyways, WoW should be the last game to test, if not it will ruin all your testing experience

    Yep, WoW has the best controls. The graphics do look pretty sweet. The art design is spectacular.

    WoW is a good game but to me it's just plain boring. However I do like the RvR pvp..but the mobslaying, questing and itemdrops/itemsystem is too boring..There will never be a time in WoW where you get so happy from a nice drop such as in L2 when you picked up your first eminence bow. There is also no such adrenaline rushes that you would get from L2's smaller scale PvP/PK in WoW, in my opinion.

    I've been trying to play wow on and off for some time but I can barely be arsed to even get a level per day at 30+ now, i've had 60 chars before aswell. WoW is the perfect game for the general MMO-gamer, but it's not for me as I'm not in that same box of mmo-gamers.

    WoW may be a good game for some people, but it was probably the fourth mmorpg I tested, and I absolutely hated it. :/

    And to be fair, I even tried it out again last month with some friends who have level 70 characters, and I still hated it.

    But if you guys like it, more power to you.

    Ditto.

    I don't understand what people see in it.I played until 30 and it was your average grinder with "quests" that gave you "alot" of exp.

    I only liked instances,it was a pretty cool system.

    WoW is pretty good. And it does a lot of things right. It is one of the few MMO's that I played to the level cap. Not all at once though. I always end up taking breaks that can last months from every mmo I play. In the beginning I did play Guild Wars more than WoW . I even liked SRO better for a while. This was back when it was hard to log onto either game. God I hated that. That is one of the worst things for an MMO. I work all day then come home to relax and I can't log in!? AND I PAID FOR THIS! That is an old complaint though WoW has got rid of that for the most part. But SRO? Bots run that game. It is still hard as hell to log in after all these years.

    I just don't want to pay for WoW all the time. Especially with a third expansion coming. I always get tired of it for the same reasons and just stop. Mainly downtime related stuff. When I get to the point where I can play other games when I am playing a game then something is wrong. (Happend with Zu recently lol) Especially when I am paying to sit around. They have done things to eliminate a lot of the downtime though. Like linked battlegrounds.

    I am probably done for good now unless one of my friends buys me the expansion and gets me back into it saying stuff like "Dude we need a Priest or Tank for the guild. You are the best Priest we know!" And I am all like "But dude I like playing my Rogue the most..." Then they go "Well buy it for you!" >_>

    NEVER AGAIN!

    Know what though. I am glad I have played enough MMO's to know not to compare everything to WoW. Remember when non gamers called every video game Mario? It seems to be getting that way with WoW and Halo.

    Be a Shaman dawg!

    Sorry for the long post. I get sidetracked because I think about too many things too fast. Which is why I can't stand not doing anything.

    It's all a matter of taste, I myself don't like WoW. I prefer even Runescape to WoW.

    WoW scams you out of your money. First you have to buy the game, then you have to pay monthly. Sure, 15 bucks a month isn't much, but that's beside the point. I'd rather try Guild Wars because all you need to do is buy the game.

    =O *Gasp* We should report this to the local authorities right away. They will get to the bottom of this and get us a refund of all the money we wasted on WoW.

    Thats exactly why you thought of it as an average grinder with quests. The best thing about WoW is fantastic PvE, the raiding/boss system, brilliant boss phases, difficult and challenging but still lots of fun. PvP isnt bad too but PvE > PvP in WoW. But you need to get to 70 first to experience that. And thats not a hard thing in WoW, with all the major quest xp and good mob xp.

    Less grind, fast leveling and a lot of endgame content - thats what makes it good.

    But atleast you could notice(even if you reached lvl 30) that areas are beautifuly made and that the movement system couldnt be smoother.

    I'd only recommend WoW if you feel like throwing your social life away.

    ....fantastic PvE?

    Dude,i played a Rogue.And i couldn't get more bored.I even tried to level up,i think i even got to 36.And recently,i tried to give it a chance because my friend asked me to play.I went Tauren Hunter.Couldn't get more bored.I raised this one to 25.Talk about borefest.

    I played hundreds of mmos before WoW and my reaction was "Meh" when i played it.Infact,if it wasn't for my friend i wouldn't had got it.I wanted Fable:Lost Chapters instead.

    ...waste of good 50€.I could buy The Witcher with that money now.

    But that's okay.I'm planning to play WoW to 60,atleast,with my friend.He's been a total ***** begging me to return.Man,FFXI is so much better...

    WoW is a very polished game that's for sure.

    However, I found it excruciatingly boring. The PvE made me want to slit my wrist. It is just sooooo slooooooooooooow. It felt like i was playing the game in slow motion. I never found PvE in EQ,DAOC,AC to be anywhere close to the boring factor that WoW has. I don't know what it is missing exactly, but something is missing in WoW. Oh, did I forget to mention how much I despise the artwork in WoW? I think it looks like a clown exploded on everyone. And the humans... could they have been drawn any worse? They look like they got smashed in the face with a shovel.

    Ah well, to each his own. I would go back to WoW if the PvE was better. I think its some sort of sick torture scheme that Blizzard has going to make you Play 70 levels of boring content just to get to the good part of the game.

    the good part?

    its like that poll in mmorpg, about how endgame raids (85% of WoW's endgame) are prolly the worst concept in mmorpg history. the consensus reached were something like:

    Forced-raiding:

    * Prevents you from joining a guild you want based on community, values, maturity, etc.;
    * Prevents you from progression in solo and group content;
    * Prevents you from playing when you want as you need to join raids at (a) scheduled times at (b) specific places;
    * Frustrates many in non-raid guilds because they cannot participate in raid content; and
    * Generates drama that is unnecessary within guilds and between other guilds.
    We must go forward, not backward. Upward, not forward. And always twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom!

    Currently Playing:
    - Guild Wars 2

    Waiting for:
    - Warhammer 40K: Eternal Crusade

    That is 100% true. I liked the "between guilds" drama though, its what makes the game even more interesting

    And yeah, raiding does waste your life. Thats why i quit wow before TBC already, simply because its EXTREMELY unfriendly to your life

    bahaha.. currently i'm playing world of kung fu, shaiya, and wow. World of Kung Fu has the exact same movement as WoW in that it's very smooth wasd that you can strafe around using the camera and such. As convenient as WoW is in terms of accessibility and such it's got its own problems. Like class balance for instance. It's terrible. They're one patch away from flat out giving hunters an "I win" button. But I play an enhancement shaman so I'm heavily biased.
