    Default wow

WOW is a great game overall its just when people get attached to another mmo before it, it seems like they just like to flame wow for the game they played before. Theres no doubt to why its #1 it has best combat system, pvp, control, an everyones computer can handle it. Many of the f2p games out there have way worse graphics in my opinion compared to wow yet still they demand so much to play smooth.

The game was way too easy for me.

I prefer games where it's actually a challenge to get anywhere. Rather than a game where a 10 year old shouting "LAWLS" every five minutes can get to the highest level in three months if he's slow.

I don't see what people like about it, it just seems generic and like complete mediocrity however, if you prefer to get things given to you, repeat the same thing as you do on most mmorpgs and enjoy the occasional 10 year old's style of typing.

Then I might just be able to see why you'd like the game.
And if the cloud bursts, thunder in your ear.

You shout and no one seems to hear.

if u think WoW have the best PvP out there, you either:

    a) have 0.00 experience in PvPing and cant PvP for shit
    b) have only played WoW and 1-2 other random shitty games in your entire life

either way you are instantly disqualified for stating opinions about WoW's PvP, when even diehard fanboi WoW players comment how sucky it is in comparision with other games, even free ones.

see? that is Blizzards main problem. the amount of newbs spamming everywhere that WoW r00lz for the most stupid reasons, is what makes old school and experienced ppl hate it...sometimes for no reason either, but they are asking for it...
We must go forward, not backward. Upward, not forward. And always twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom!

    Currently Playing:
    - Guild Wars 2

    Waiting for:
    - Warhammer 40K: Eternal Crusade

    I disagree with this entirely.
WoW is the most popular due to a couple reasons. First is that it is made by Blizzard. They have a track record of making good games so that generates a fan base prior to even playing the game. Second, they advertise a lot. The budget for this mmo is much greater than most mmorpgs.

It is a well know fact that advertising works. People are mindless drones for the most part so if you tell them the product is good, they believe it.

Now to address your specifics about the gameplay:

    #1 combat system
-Not quite my friend. You see, the combat system is quite stale and bland to be honest. Reactionary and position based skills are lacking. There is little more to the combat system than pressing 1,1,1,2,2,3,4, etc. Mindless.

    #1 PvP
-Think again. Dark Age Of Camelot's Pvp is generally considered the best in any of the main stream mmorpgs. Little would argue against this. Even Shadowbane's PvP is much better than WoW's.

    #1 Control
-Nothing in WoW stands out as far as control goes. It is a simple game that does not require that much really.

    Everyone's computer can handle it
-This may be where the Blizzard's experience comes in to play. Optimized coding a such takes experience and budget, which is lacked by many mmorpgs these days.

Having said that, WoW does one thing that does appeal to almost everyone. It does not excel at any aspect, but it is good in all aspects. It has nothing new to offer in the mmorpg genre, but it does not fail at any particular aspect that would push users away.

LOL. It's actually the other way around.

    Little observation from my friends:

-Any of them that played an mmorpg prior to playing WoW, was disappointed in WoW and no longer play.
-Any of them that have not played an mmorpg prior to playing WoW absolutely loves the game.

This of course is by no means "solid" evidence, but it does paint a nice picture and draws a nice conclusion: Noobs love WoW. Pro's hate it.

Anyone who takes the time to consider if they're "noob" or "pro" is typically the type of person I'd expect to enjoy WoW.

And not realizing it was a joke is the kind of person that I expect to be begging change from me in front of the coffee shop.

lol just cause he said wow was good, it doesnt make him a fanboy fanatic. His major point is that games such as wow and others you'd personally like for a good time will set the standard for every other game u intend to test and play in the future, sadly enough if u like a game and spend a good amount of time on it, you ultimately have a tendency to compare every other future game u test out to the good game that u've played and ultimately u'd tend to think that games that dont live up to the standard of the previous good games u've played, u'd quickly toss it out without ever giving it a chance and u end up missing out on alot of the good things a game has to offer and because you're bored of the good game that u've once played, all u end up doing is trolling the forums, *exaggerating* and clicking the refresh button in the free mmorpg section on onrpg looking for a new game to test and play and u'd prolly end up spending a few hours doing so (if u have no life), wasting alot of time.

lovely how people take bare numbers as absolete, just to "prove a point".
the fact that WoW has x million subscribers does not automatically mean it has x million active players.

You are quite right about this one
Yes, but that goes for all mmorpgs

be honest, if it were that Lotro had the exact same WSAD animations as WoW some people would STILL say WoW's WSAD controls are "better"

over the years, some people have created this obscene illusion where there is no room for anything but World of Warcraft. They also tend to see things thrice as good as they actually are (i.e. the whole WoW-idealising phenomenon) whereas it is actually as mainstream and generic as it could ever be.

trust me, the credibility starts to drop when they start calling Shaiya, Rappelz, Silkroad Online and Counter strike (yes, counter strike) a wow-rip off, not to mention Lotro, everquest and asherons call (Pre WoW!)

I'm more than sure Apple is DONATING Macs to the schools. Otherwise we'd have Windows computers not Apple ones seeing as our education budget is so ****ed.
