Default Metal Sound On My Guitar?

I got an electric guitar for X-mas and i'v trying to tune it so i sound more Metal than rock. I cant seem to get the right sound. Is their somthing that i need or could do to make it sound more like Dime Bag Darell rather than a Kenny Rogers lol

Mess around with the tone until you get what you like.

Or try adjusting to some premade settings here.

Thanks for the link. I got a guitar for Christmas also, and I have no idea what bass, treble, and middle even do lol.

Well it depends what kind of Stratocaster you're talking about. A Fender Squier Strat is a good beginner's guitar.

But then there's the Fender American Stratocaster which costs nearly $1000, and it's omfg pwnage. Watch this to see.

    Boss pedals are pretty solid.

Get metal zone or something like that.

No, there's two of us....We can form a club, **** them guitar players!

You can probably get a boss distortion pedal for around $60-80.

Roland makes great solid state practice amps. Do yourself a favor and buy the Cube 15x and some sort of cheap Ibanez if you want to play metal. I'm gonna recommend the Ibanez GRX20.

Also for the metal sound, buy an Ibanez DS7 distortion pedal:

Try de-tuning for a more metal sound. Drop D, Drop C, things like that. Buy some larger gauge strings like some Ernie Ball's Not Evens to help you get to these tunings.

Oh and by the way, if you buy a Cube 15x you don't have to worry about the pedal right yet. You get a pretty decent metal distortion setting from the amp. The pedal would be better but you're not playing gigs or recording quite yet so it can wait.
