Default LCD VGA and graphic card troubles

well i rather ask for help here rather than a tech forum (although i'll try later) since people are much more active here.

    onto my question/problem:

so i have an LCD monitor and a nvidia 7600 GS with both VGA and DVI connectors. i've connected them through VGA for awhile, but now every time i boot up the computer and it gets to the desktop, the screen shows some messed up image for 5 seconds then it shows the desktop. it looks like the static (snow-blizzard thing) on t.vs, but instead of black and white its turquoise with a lot of jagged lines everywhere.

then i switched to the DVI connectors and it works fine and nothing shows up.
this isn't really a big problem and all, but is this some sort of sign that my cards dying or is the VGA connector for the LCD or graphic card broken?

thanks for any replies and help!

I'd have to really see it to be more exact, but DVI is a much higher quality signal than VGA. That could play part, and when you put in VGA, the LCD simply needs to configure itself for the VGA signal

to put it simply, backwards compatibility may take a second to kick in

    thanks for the reply FabianN.

well the first time it happend was that that screen with the messed up image stayed there. it didn't go away, even after i rebooted the computer 3 times, but when the computer was off the LCD showed the "No Signal" display which meant the LCD's fine. then i switched to the DVI connections on the LCD and the graphic card.

my LCD and graphic card are working fine right now, but i just want to know if either will break because of what i said above.

    here's some visuals:

it looks like all 3 mixed into one, the colour in number 3 and the lines of 1 & 2.
