You mean the RIAA is going act like Ninjas to track down all the pirates in the world.

Of course, Pirates are better then Ninjas, so they will never get us. Sure, they got Jammie Thomas, but that could be explained. Don't worry, Piracy will continue.

I'm torn between "Meh, I rly dont give a Sh*t." and "SOMEONE STOP THEM PLS! (T-T)." I think software should be free for use (especially Microsoft's crappy, overpriced products). If I were to full out pirate something, it would definitely be Microsoft stuff; Just so people don't have to pay $100+ more for a crappier product.

They'll never catch me, I'm a pirating ninja!

When did we become Saints (no pun intended...)?

Last time I checked I was still human... Not that I pirate of course, but given the option I could do it.

I don't see how you make the connection that Marineking is a pirate. All he said was that Piracy will never die out, which is 100% true.

You see, there is only one RIAA. There are millions of pirates. The RIAA could use all their money to track some people down, but it's almost impossible to convict anyone of piracy. (Jammie Thomas was an exception, but she has the same screen name for 10 years.) People can change their IP's, and change their screen names as they are uploading and downloading files. Sure, if the RIAA really tried; they could hire a hacker to track down the pirate. However, all those efforts would just lead to the defeat of one pirate. There are still millions out there. The RIAA just doesn't have the time to track down every single pirate. They could close down a site (Like OiNK) but another site would just pop right back up.

Piracy will never be gone. As long as there are hackers who can overcome DRM, and people who want software for free; the P2P networks will always be there.

Unless an ISP decides to block everything...

    waaait Nobody cares,why?
Most scene groups [Vitality,Deviant,Razor 1911 ect] are in europe where the USA cannot catch.
Even if they bring down the servers new sites will just pop up and repeat.
And even if they catch that they relocate to canada so nope itll never be gone.
Underground places are always there if you are smart.
    Piracy can just underground.

    wait i just re-read OP's post...
you just realized all that about P2P, BT, etc. recently?
    where have you been?
(yea i know i'm stupid for saying that a page later )

anyway, the government's busy enough with REAL crimes to tend instead of virtual ones which are nearly impossible to stop.
it's either someone dying or "lolzigotmusik4free."

you can send a thief to jail several times until they learn.

you can't stop the amount of people learning how to file share and download.

    Contradictions are fun! YAY! :P

I try not to pirate much, but sometimes it's unavoidable. And by unavoidable, I mean "I'm a cheapass that doesn't want to pay" :3

Nah, torrent programs will still exist, their original purpose wasn't illegal. Or maybe it was, but the fact still remains that it's the torrent itself that's illegal, not the software.

At least I'm relatively safe though, because I don't create torrents myself! I just leech. :P

It pisses me off that I upload at 1.5 megabytes per a second and I'm downloading at like 20kb per a second.

You are aware of the fact that artists/bands "lose" very little money, it's their record label who loses money but they still earn hellofalot of money. Do you think people would've bought all the music if they couldn't download it for free? No!
Buying a CD is almost like buying a pig in a poke, if you download the music first you'll know what you're getting.

Besides downloading music is beneficial for a lot of artists/bands in a way that more people attends their concerts and if they truly like the music, buy a CD. Without piracy I wouldn't have bought any of the CDs I've bought today with the exception of one. Also I wouldn't have attended three concerts in 2007 with bands from Japan. I wouldn't know anything about Japanese music to be honest.

Piracy is not stealing music. It's like copying/borrowing a book a friend has bought/copied/borrowed.

Also I don't get why we don't fight the people stealing photos/graphics other people have created, those persons also don't get any money for their work. :(

as long as you don't steal like a movie and sell it... gaining money from someone elses creations...then it's cool. Is it so important that for example Paris hilton get every million for her shitty movie's or music and the goverment get their little tax?

and ffs spend MORE money on developing the world for a bright future instead of on some that downloads... people download mostly for 1 reason... TO F*CKING HIGH PRICES ! if i find a game for i.e 8 dollar in the store that i like... i BUY it, but how often do you find new and good games for 8 bucks?

Yeah I usually don't buy music unless I really like a band and just want the novelty of owning the CD. Normal CDs go for at least $12 here in Singapore, which is probably $14 bucks in the US freaking expensive.

Plus, I found out Singapore doesn't have minimum wage. Whoopdedoo... lets slog on for hours in a Macdonalds for $2.50 USD an hour.

You know, a lot of people are sensitive about the whole piracy thing, but why? It's kinda stupid...

I mean, the only things you can pirate are files or programs for your computer. What's so wrong with that? If somebody came up to you and handed you a version of Windows XP, and you were still running on Windows 98, well hell, you'd most likely take it, wouldn't you? Besides, it's not like you can detect a pirate just by looking at 'em. We don't have tattoos on our foreheads or anything.

You know, it's times like this I wonder about the future...how much better will pirating be? Like...you throw some fabric into a machine, go online, and torrent a shirt? Cuz' that'd be kinda cool. =D

EDIT: Offtopic: DAMNIT! I DO NOT WANT TO BE A DIRTY SOCK!
