City of Heroes vs WOW

ok sorry i had to bring this up in the free mmorpg section but i wouldn't dare post this in the WOW forum because they'd obviously side with it. Well ok heres the deal i've been addicted to city of heroes for ages the fact that you can fly, run super fast, super jumps, the instances are really fun when teaming, users are very friendly and theres many more i wont list for now, so yea i tried WOW multiple times no lie about 8 times.......honestly about 3 times on a P.server 3 times on a trial and other times on a friends acct, first of all im not saying the game is horrible but after about an hour or 2 tops i get really bored with the game it feels very slow paced the pvp isn't exciting in any way and the lack of customization really made me wonder why is WOW getting all this hype and COH isn't getting as much recognition, im not trying to start a war between the 2 but im just curious as to what you guys opinions on COH is and why do you feel WOW is better than COH and please be specific, because im just curious.....ty for your time

I thoroughly enjoyed CoH more then WoW, however I liked CoV over CoH.

I like CoH better than WoW. maybe its becaue IMO the CoH community is actually nice, while the majority of WoW's community were level 70s that couldn't care less about anyone unless they has all epics from black temple, or were rank 1 in arenas.

I love COH I came across the site by chance one year and noticed it the us version had been released and the european one was coming in the next few weeks they site said i hit the link for the european site then hit the pre-order button and never looked back. You get so much for your money the game is great the community even better. I cant beleave someone said the game wasn't immersive! it is the only game where role playing your character seems to come natural! even the normal power gamer who just likes to say they have max characters in this and that game find them selves playing their character role and shouting super hero taunts at the bad guys. Im going to stop rambling on lol, But yeah the game is very good loads of missions loads of feactures loads of free updates that are not just bug fixes (Cov was given away free to all retail COH accounts a few months ago which is good unless you paid for that when it was released like me...)

Good Points:
Great graphics
Huge! maps
DIFFERENT
Loads of power pools
Character creation is godly
Loads and loads and loads of missions!
Lets not forget the badges you can earn for just exploring maps or defeat foes!
PVP Zones (they are kinda of new not too keen it them myself)
Super groups (Guilds/clans)(Always fun to be in a good SG bases are a nice perk)
With a recent content update the have added a police band radio to the mission list which scans the current map you are in for crimes. (its basicaly the same thing as the news paper from cov, so soloing is as easy in coh now as cov but coh is 10 times bigger.)

Cons:
Time! (Just never seems to be enough of it lol)
Community (on the european servers has dropped in the last few years which makes things lonely, I did create a trial account on the us servers to see the difference and well its a big difference loads of people on the us version i want a euro/us merger! lol)
Noob friendly, No noobs wanting freebies, no gold sellers spamming the local channels(not unheard of but Gm's ban them lightning fast)

Best thing to do is make friends early on and you will have a blast and remember this is an MMO so Soloing is possible but whats the point in playing a game designed around community involvement if your not going to talk and team with anyone...............

On the vs wow subject:

I will not get into a bash wow thread again as much as i hate wow (being the most unorignal cookie cutter game going) the fact is COH and WoW have nothing in common and cannot be compared.

I liked World of Warcraft more because when I last played (two years ago..) I had bunches of fun in instances but at around 40 when you have to wait hours to do a single instance and people always have better equiptment than you because they spawncamped rare monsters for hours it gets really boring. Plus there's no originality in the game, everyone expects the same class to do the same thing no matter what so it's just stupid. Oh and City of Hereos was fun just seemed more limited to me.

i played coh/cov for a while, good game, comunity is half dead compared to back in the CoH early days though, wich kinda sucks, and sucks big time pvp wise. CoH/CoV got pretty boring for me after having 2 cap lvl characters, and, really nothing to do, waiting for next issues to come out, and finaly got tired out.
for the wow thing, if your longest experience of the game is about 2 hours, you dint get to try much of the content, the game isint really slow paced, but feels like it in the lower lvls, since you dont have any talent builds yet, only a handfull of skills, and such. You dont do instance as often as CoH, thats for sure, since evry mission in CoH was instanced.(but alot of them were the same over and over again wich killed it for me) the instances are more of a big dungeon thing were you go in for phat loot, to make yourself stronger then others. the fun in WoW is really in the endgame, even though most people will tell you <<OMFG WOW ENDGAME IS TEH SUCKS RAID IS LIEK BORING AND ARENA IS LIKE OMFG GEAR DEPENDANT.>> sure, raiding can be boring if you farm the first raid(karazhan) for 30 weeks in a row, if you actualy make progress, and dont bother reading them <<how to>> guides, there alot of fun, and quite the chalenge.
alot of people will argue thta arena is gear dependent, thing they dont realise, thats only in the lower ratings, since that as soon as you break the 1800 ratings, you usualy have enough arena points to have the same arena gear as evry one, making it a fair ground.

now, you asked why more people like WoW over CoH:
WoW is released by blizzard, so its bound to have a large amount of popularity just from there past titles (starcraft, warcraft, diablo
while on the other hand, CoH is made by cryptic studios, wich barely anyone knows(and does no longer exist, mind you) and is released by NCsoft. most NCsoft P2P mmo's dont get much success in the western area(look at autoassault, bloody thing got closed down, and before it did, they were actualy giving copys out at stores like eb games when ever youd purchase something worth 30$ or more, kinda sad)

anyways, this sums up my view of this.

First of all, private servers give the worst impression of the game. So much bugs, so less people etc.
Second of all, I have the same myself, but started with WoW, when you started playing CoH, did you like it immediately from the start? Didnt you just try out something? And now that you try WoW you think: O well, it's boring, i dont wanna try everything out cause I know everything already in CoH.
The fact is, each game is boring at the start, however I think that WoW takes you through the start pretty fast, and it is needed to have a bit of understanding of the game. You can't judge a game on 2 hours.

As for which is better Coh/Cov easily takes my vote cause its is original and has pretty much alot of the things on mmorpg should have. And how can u not love the customization lol but it did get abit repetitive sometimes. Although the community is small like people are saying i never found a hard time getting into a party from level 1 and above the party search system works wonders plus u can jump straight into anyones quests. Pity about the pvp though would be alot of fun if alot of people did it but there are player organised pvp events.

As for wow im going to probs be playing it again with a friend on friday for the last test to see if its good if i have an experienced player with me. but i still think CoH walks all over wow

Agreed. A good example will be Ragnarok Online. Why pay to play eRO, pRO when the former is full of botters and hackers, while the latter has countless corrupt GMs? (that pRO has corrupt GMs is based on hearsay, I experienced eRO's botters firsthand though)

I find some p. servers have a better community than them.

I've played COH and COV, and jeeze, you guys over-rate those games horrribly.

The controls suck, the interface sucks, the combat sucks, I didn't like the community (noone wanted to say hi =( ), and just about everything feels lazy and far inferior to WoW. I can't believe you guys are siding with that crapfest. It just feels... outdated.

On a sidenote, my old guild tried to migrate from WoW to COH/COV a few years back. They quit after 3 days.

On each private server are tons of bugs, things not working properly, imbalanced, low population, much more downtime etc. You cant possibly tell me that is a better experience.

Both are stand alone games, but are meant to be played together.

Having both lets you:

Enter PVP zones
You get 4 more character slots
You can enter super group/villain group (same thing different name) bases.

Its kinda like guild wars, you can get just one and play, but if you get them all you get more goodies
