Default MMORPG - A different perspective

Hello, I'm not new here, but at the same time I am because this is my second post.

Me and a couple of friends that play MMO's came to a sad conclusion that all MMORPG's that are free are the same old crap. Press a skill, wait for the animation, kill the monster and continue. I have been playing Rakion for a long time and honestly it was the best online game I found. It's far away from the WoW attitude with endless quests but the gameplay is unique. You swing by clicking and you have combos and so forth, well the game is great. It's got good graphics too, I don't know if a lot of you know the game, but since I don't really know alot about realese dates or MMO's in general, I was hoping if someone in here could tell me if a game like Rakion will be released in the future. Why aren't I playing Rakion you may ask, well the game died due to the company's ******ed patches, they basically leeched as much cash as they could with the cash shops and to make a long story short... you can be a level one with uber stats if you pay.

Well, personally if we all played a game like Rakion in which SKILL is a must because by being the highest level with the best gear doesn't mean you will always win we would all enjoy it. This is why I love the game, because as you know, usually MMORPG's are mostly based on gear and level. Rakion is too, but level doesn't matter that much, it's mainly reflexes and strategy. I know that we're all into pretty graphics and smooth effects and all that, MMORPG's are always the same thing, you start with nothing and then you end up with great gear and new skills. For decades games have been a clone of the same idea, but for the first time when I glanced at Rakion, I couldn't believe it. So check it out on youtube or whatever.

    Well thanks, laterz.

I played Rakion, was pretty decent, cept game was slow in attacks, and very frustrating.

Sadly most MMO's follow the same cookie cutter model. They are either WOW clones, Korean grind fests or go kill monster A dullness. If you want something different you may have to leave MMO's alone for now.

Agree 100%, the sad thing is that ur probably right about leaving mmo's alone.

for example, onrpg is promoting secret of solstice, *cough* Ragnarok Clone

oh well... u said if i want something different, well i do, but don't we all... i mean, i can't be the one thinking about MMO's being dull and repetitive, u just agreed with me :3

Your looking for hack and slash MMOs that uses "wasd" movement and left and right mouse buttons for attacks. Which is new and refreshing but the only games that are like that which i know of are Mythos and Hellgate London... I'd definately try to get a Mythos invite if i were you.

If your looking for a game based on skill, there was a game called "Infinity" but don't think its english host exists anymore, basically it was room based questing/raiding but you'd have to do combos in order to attack which was like "up, up, down, left, prim atk". The only flaw in that game was that the equipment didn't do anything to your stats and all you could do was buy new skills that required combos to do, which was fun. Theres also Lunia which is the same as Infinity but the community isn't that great.

I've been waiting for a good mmorpg in this category but seems like their low in stock.

Infinity Online is having an OB really really soon, said to be Jan28.

Infinity Online english WILL be hosted by Gametribe. And NO there will not be any IP bans and NA residents will be able to play as well as anyone else around the world.

I was just playing Infinity KR with an account that a friend gave me.It's really cool and way much of a faster pace than Rakion is.You start out with some characters and the rest u buy with Luna(in-game currency),I thought it was cash-only characters but you have the option to buy extra characters with Luna or Cash. They're over 27 characters all together, some are the same but have different "versions" of themselves such as the swimsuit version or the uniform version.

You can do alot of combos,up to 42 different combos can be executed. An arse-load of items and you can buy pets too. They also have a gambling game where you can put money on a monster and if the monster wins then u get double the gold.

Is Infinity Online room based like Rakion, or there's a whole world?

Room based. The highest I've seen is 8 characters per room.Probably more than that though. And the PVP isn't like Rakion where its 8 v 8,in one room it's 1 v all.

Yes,GunZ and Rakion are coincidently the same.Same type of network(P2P) and hackers lolz.GunZ has Rakion beat on two things, and that is having more faster based combat and using guns, knifes, katanas, and kodachis. But in terms of genre it leans more towards of an MMOFPS than a MMORPG.

thats cause it's based on dynasty warrior online. There's a kr version i think. But as for infinity online, the gameplay is cool but the camera view is just horrible.

lol no offense but comparing gunZ to rakion is an insult, i played rakion for a long time and gunz for like a month... i dunno, gunZ just seems so weird, rakion might seem slow at the beginning but once you start going into the high lvl rooms, its a whole different story

i've also played Lunia but that never got patched so theres only like 3 chapters and in japan they got like 10 and more classes

infinity online sounds kool, i might as well give it a shot...

    thanks :3

is infinity online european? cuz i can't find the american site, and how do i apply for their CB?
