Default Any tips for Vista Users?

Does anyone know any tips that could maybe help Vista run faster? Please don't post anything harmful that would mess up a computer. Sorry if there's a thread about this already. The only thing I found out was to turn off UAC off. I can't revert back to XP, so don't bother saying that.

If you have the far fancier theme enabled that has transparencies, turn that off. Short of that, there isn't too much you can do without doing some heavy modding of the system, something which no one should do without first knowing exactly what they doing.

    Downgrade.

Best choice you'll ever make, or your balls back guaranteed.

Could you tell me how? I'm a Vista newbie.

Whats your PC specs? If your PC is good enough Vista will run as a charm.

Is such a thing possible? I mean, once you get past compatibility issues, awful drivers, the occasional system crash, DRM, various infringements upon your personal freedoms, and a few [thousand] other things, sure, it ain't so bad!

I hate Vista. It makes me want to scrape out my eyes with a sharp object some times.

DRM? Nothing to do with Vista. You hate Vista because you want to, not because it's bad. Obviously you have had a bad experience. Mostly because of bad hardware or your own fault. Mark my words.

    Vista for the future. XP=Downgrade.

Vista has potential to be great but its unstable at the moment, just like how XP was crap when it first came out. Vista will one day become functional, one day...

    Epically wrong.

When running Vista, every single one of your device drivers checks every 30ms to see that you aren't trying to copy protected content.

Vista uses encrypted memory, slowing your computer down no end - but only for protected movies. Your credit card numbers, social security information and passwords are still stored plaintext.

XP has none of this shit.

Vista is Microsoft bowing down to the movie studios. Any new graphics cards designs have to be approved by three major movie production companies before they can be used with Vista to play HD content.

And you say DRM is nothing to do with Vista? Balls.

Windows 98SE is better than Vista.

    Future aye ?

So far for me, Vista SP1 is worse.
    I've used it.
    I know.
    Tyvm.

    About the future part.
China Olympics refused to use it.

Maybe Vienna will be better ?
Or XP will dominate with SP3 maybe ?

    But IMO,
Vista should be OK for normal users.
But absolutely atrocious for computer techies like me ._. .

You'll see us computer nerds ranting about it all the time

    Throw gasoline on it!
    burn it!
    pee on it!
    shit on it!
    kick it!
    smash it to pieces!
and then throw it outa the window and spit on it!

The only usefull thing on vista is their skins >.>

My teacher has Vista on her laptop, it seems fine.
I'll stick to XP 'till they work out all the kinks.

besides, theres probably a ton of pc users who it doesnt really matter what OS they are using. it only makes a difference to a small bunch of people rather than your average generic computer user who only uses their pc as like a glorified television and home cinema or a gaming console or a work desk.

    hrrmmm

also, i wouldnt want to touch anything that ive just defecated all over.

True, Maybe you should let someone else throw it outa the window :3

And? Benchmarks on two machines that are identical except for OS, show that machines running Vista are much, much slower than their XP counterparts. Even the latest top-of-the-line machines show significant speed differences for basic operations, especially memory-intensive ones involving protected content. This is all even with the fancy graphics turned off - Vista is just shit-slower.

Even Microsoft has admitted that Vista is junk. That's why they're releasing a new OS in '09 instead of just improving Vista - it's actually easier for them to start from scratch than to try and fix up that thing.

If you have a high-powered computer, then you can run Vista and also run games at a decent speed. You could also do the same thing with XP.

If you have a medium-specced machine, you cannot play games at a decent quality level on Vista, without running into serious lag. These same games, you can run on XP at maximum quality, with no lag.

well even for those who just do regular stuff like it too....oh well
